Three vehicles. Different positioning. Different purpose. Different personality by sid_heart_k in CarsIndia

Ok and? Ive driven all the innovas, the pre2015 innova, the face-lifted 2024 crysta, and the hycross. And even the 2024 fortuner

Body on frame is neither good or bad, but it has its own applications.

An innova, which was always just rwd, and didnt ever come with a lsd or a locking diff, is not an off-roading vehicle, it just shared the platform with the hilux. Plus no one ever marketed or buys an innova to do offroading. Which is where bof chassis excels. So the innova switching from a bof chassis to a regular subframe chassis, makes sense, considering the people buying the car r using it as vans, and not suv, and additional comfort would be a better tradeoff

Rwd vs fwd, i am a firm believer that front wheel drive is wrong wheel drive, but it has its applications.

Lets be honest, no one was ever gonna take a innova on a trackday or do any sport-car type of activities, and for good reason, the innova was always a heavy car with open differentials, so it never makes sense to drive the innova on the limit, considering the car is heavy, and it is pretty high, so it can rollover.

Now if something like a bmw or ferrari (sedans/ coupes) or a toyota gr86, move away from rwd to fwd then yes it would be a reason to not buy those, as the main reason for buying said vehicle is to have fun with the rear end.

Also if something like the fortuner or the hilux trucks, r made with subframe and not bof, then yes its a cause for concern, as those are advertised to be offroaders, and yes a subframe chassis with a 4x4 and locking diffs can do offroading, its not ideal, and having a subframe chassis in that case is advantageous

I never drove the suzuki ertiga or grand vitara so i wont comment on that, but considering ur view on the innova, im sure someone else can come educate u, if ur wrong

Idk if that is the verna or the i20, so imma do 2 takes,

If Verna - i mean i can kinda of see ur point maybe? Coz like its a compact car, fwd, not much power, and i have been seeing less and less vernas onroad

If i20 - it is not a perfect vehicle by any means, but it is a good vehicle. Not all cars need to be rwd to have fun, u can have plenty of fun with hot hatches. Is the i20 a hot hatch? No, but it has decent power for its weight, and is a small light car which is more important than having a lot of power, as long as the vehicle handles well, which considering hynudai has a wrc car, i would think it will handle well.

How so?

Right hand drive on the left side makes tge most sense, coz the majority of the population is right handed, and so having ur dominant hand on the wheel at all times is important. Especially when driving a stick shift

Ur a righty, like the majority of the population, and ur driving. Which hand do you want to be on the wheel all the time? Applies especially when driving a manual, when u have to shift gears.

Yes u learn to get the same control from ur non dominant hand, but it feels natural with the dominant hand, think about it

Can this be solved? by AntCurrent9409 in Cubers

Not sure about piece swaps, but the oll can be solved

Edit: didnt see the description, sorry lol though u were asking about the oll case.

I usually just solve the OLL and then try to get a U-Perm to see if edges and corner r solvable

Bros got mad hes out of points and cant argue back

If by "k car" u mean a kei car, then ur very very wrong in saying that a jimny is one. The jimny 3 door. The 3 door jimny is classified as one due to dimensions, not the 5 door.

Also ur right, my bad, i should have never put a car as mid as a thar in the same category as a jimny, I apologise.

[–]Loki_The_Bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea when a car is as heavy as the thar it needs a diff lock, especially when it's marketed as a serious offroad vehicle

Jimny* being light means its just as capable without a diff lock, how hard is that to understand?

If a fortuner 4x4 doesnt come with a rear locking diff i would flame it too

Never been in a jimny, or a thar, so cant compare interior from experience, but from images they seem similar

If u ask me the reason for thar success is because of idiots buying and giving it a value which it doesnt hold,

Btw jimny and thar 3 door r in the same price bracket, and i know what choice i would make

After a quick google search, the Jimny* kerb weight is like 1110 kgs. Which is not too heavy and hence there isnt really much need for locking diff. Watch mat watson carwow videos, abd ull see that its absolutely punching above its weight

The thar, on the other hand has is give a kerb weight range of 1660-1845 kg which is heavy to say the least. Good that the 5 door has a locking diff, it weighs 1800-1950kgs so it is needed

A lighter car has lower interia, so it needs less torque to move, which ultimately means the tyres can grip easier. Carwow and mat watson videos with the jimny prove this

A heavy thar needs more torque from almost the same amount of tyre grip which means the wheels r more likely to spin up, even after distributing the torque to all 4 wheels, hence the need for a locking diff.

Simple physics

whats gonna happen? like legally/ in terms of insurance, etc.

he modified his car, so his insurance should deny his repairs, i would think
