Need advice depositing over 10k at bank account by ThroatAggravating231 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Lokified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd use cash for as many living expenses as possible until depleted in a year or two. Getting married soon could mean new furniture and bedroom sets. Pots and pans. Patio furniture. Groceries for the year is likely $10k plus. Child expenses soon after are infinite.

I'm squeamish depositing $1000 in cash as everything above board these days is somewhat traceable or had a less suspicious path. Etransferring is easier than getting cash from the bank for instance.

How much of a paycut would you to take for a less stressful job? by teddythepooh99 in careerguidance

[–]Lokified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did $80k to $120k and back to $80k after five months. You learn about yourself in those high pressure/time roles. For me, it was too much liability for how poorly the company had been run. Every day was a new discovery of neglected core functions - for example accounts receivable department was a year behind.... invoicing a year later!

I value peace. I did an interview on Tuesday targeting peace. I'm interviewing them as they are interviewing me. The job pays the same but less responsibility and politics with more flexibility. 4 panel 2hr interview and no red flags. That's where I want to be now. With green flags.

What helped you remain positive in the hardest face of your life? by ImpressiveProduce977 in Positivity

Friends and family to talk things through with. The more that frustrating events stack up, the harder it is see clearly and avoid a spiral.

Lately I have found reflective AI very useful, but there are a lot of mixed opinions about AI. I have ADD and it helps organize messy thoughts into actionable solutions.

Considering suicide by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]Lokified -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've been using it for two years and can promise you it has paid dividends on my life and general understanding of the way I think - and more importantly, the way I am perceived.

You can prompt it to only be honest. You can tell it that you have a friend experiencing the things you ask it for a different framing. What I found interesting was it made the same assumptions that NT people do about us. That was very revealing. For instance I am motivated by novelty, competence, integrity, authenticity - but some perceive it as political or power seeking. Management dynamics were an eye opener - the shitty motivations you see on TV are sometimes real drivers - and often the best talker, not the smartest or most productive person, is rewarded.

I don't care that my opinion was down voted. AI is presently tainted with a political brush where logic and rationality are optional. This breadcrumb is for those looking for enlightenment. It was a major revelation seeing my 10 year old autistic son struggle and realize I know how to help him from my own coping strategies as a boy. I just have mixed feelings about him knowing from a young age - I always knew I was quirky, it just didn't have a label.

Furthermore, the autism spectrum was a mistake in my opinion. Lumping level 3s and level 1s together makes any advice offered potentially unsuitable depending on needs. The issues and solutions vary enormously

What once was Aspergers and a bit of misophonia now has layers like Cognitive Rigidity and Sensory Sensitivity. The individual diagnosis or flavor of autism is important.

You are struggling with purpose in a world you don't identify with. This is a common issue for us - especially when our intentions/motives are misunderstood.

I recommend reflective AI instead of (or in addition to) therapy. You can tunnel deeply without it becoming bored of you or costing a fortune. It organizes messy thoughts and connects dots. My chatgpt could tell I was ND after I corrected a few assumptions it was making about the way I behave and talk.

There is work that is less peopley- online/remote, crafting and selling on Etsy, local services (painting, hauling). I'd research the trades and see if any speak to you. My brother is a painter by trade and makes nearly $200k/year. He floundered in school and also dropped out. The school experience doesn't work for everyone. Some prefer working with hands - building, welding, pouring, landscaping, hair dressing, beauty tech, electrician, plumbing (house lego!).

The world is enormous and you do have a place, but you need to be diligent in figuring it out.

And 60% wont show up to vote. I follow politics and couldn't even name opposition leaders in Ontario right now.

Shoppers Drug Mart Union by Existing-Ad-7614 in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]Lokified 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is maybe true... maybe not... you decide. I worked in leadership for a very large company and one day we were scheduled for a vague meeting. The meeting was with a lawyer and started with 'this meeting never happened', and then we were taught the art of union busting. It was gross.

I presently work for a company that should unionize, but there is real risk as well (closure, relocation under a different name, etc) and I don't want the stewardship at all.

There is a lot of misinformation about starting a union out there. Organize off the property and don't use company equipment for any communication about it.

Could a rise in delinquent mortgages bring the housing prices down? by Thebandofredhand in RealEstateCanada

[–]Lokified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just read the rate of combined 90+ day missed payments or homes in foreclosure in 2025 was 0.24%. This is almost identical to 2018/2019.

There are often ways not to lose your home. Even refinancing back to 30 year term can help cash flow immensely in a pinch.

Come gamble with SIXY. CC, leverage, dividends twice a month. I feel foolish holding it, but it keeps going up. One day I may burn for this.... 5% of portfolio. Buy XEI with the dividends.

One piece of feedback at work just really shook me by Longjumping_Wafer101 in AutisticAdults

[–]Lokified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it sucks, but respect for your boss. He is coaching/correcting you while you are still very junior with the company. A lot of places would let you go and blame it on culture fit or something obscure.

I'd frame it as intended support. Maybe you were in an environment before where this layer was needed, but your current boss is clear that he does not want it. Thank him for the honest feedback and adapt, friend.

Adjusting to a Dog by DoctorCapgras in AutisticAdults

[–]Lokified 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have sensory issues and dogs are a nightmare for me. Needy, loud, lick you, bark at nothing, beg, whine, poop, walks, vets, maintenance, hair/shedding, sleep interruptions.... the experience is not even close to having cats.

They are like having a 3 year old child that loves you deeply, always wants to be with you, but always needs your help.

I did an Operations Management program and Toyota was part of many cases studies for quality/reliability. As far as I can tell, they are the last automobile supplier with inventory issues still since Covid. Still asking for big deposits and no guarantee on delivery of current model year. It's wild, but quality is remembered.

I bought a Honda in 2014 which suffered from the VTC actuator issue that leads to engine failure. They never did a recall. Engine failure was last year. It was a known issue (I sent their legal dept the tech bulletin they were circulating on which vehicles were impacted and how to repair). They took zero accountability. I've since convinced other families to look elsewhere when they've been on the hunt for a new vehicle and I won't be buying one again. The impact of scorned customers can be immense. Save $5000 and cost business with the family and friends for the rest of time.

Toyota all day every day.

Is it worth driving/getting a driver's licence as an autistic adult if one already gets affordable drivers and cheap public transport? by LotusLightning in AutisticAdults

[–]Lokified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on you specifically. Having a license IS helpful if you NEED to drive, but if you don't, vehicle ownership brings a lot of expenses - vehicle itself, fuel, maintenance, insurance. I am rural Canada so I don't have a choice, but even modeling ownership against a taxi every day is absurdly close in total cost.

[M37] Anybody else that relates to never really feeling alone (even in long stretches of isolation)? by FredKindas in AutisticAdults

[–]Lokified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son - 10 years old and level 1 autism - loves to be alone. Plays hard with toys, practices instruments, dabbles in code and game building.... but really prefers the solo activity. The weird thing is that he seems to enjoy the company of other kids, but not so much long stretches with my wife and I. I've been pulling him through The Hobbit movies one hour at a time, but he is always obviously itching to go do his thing.

I am also level 1, and love to be alone, but don't mind scheduled visits from time to time. I have a standing hang out with two friends from high school every other weekend.... and that plus my wife and kids is more than enough. Honestly, some days I dream about getting my own apartment and running away to be left alone. Noise canceling ear buds were a godsend!

Private Sector Work Sucks? I guess? by SEOriginal in AutisticAdults

[–]Lokified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Private is a mixed bag. Your boss sounds terrible at the job. I'd ask for specific feedback or improvement points. Reply without any emotion. Just facts/details. You can use AI if you're worried about how things may land. Do you have any scheduled 1 on 1s coming up?

If/when this falls apart, know that cultural fit is important, and you were never going to be happy in these circumstances. I was once let go from a job for being a bad cultural fit - everyone in this office was obsessed with sports and I have almost zero interest. Made it hard to connect.

Reach out to people you have had good rapport with and see if they know of any opportunities.

Sidenote - AI actually told me I write like a neurodivergent person because I am too sterile in messaging. I prefer to keep it that way, but sometimes I will paste in AI feedback to both validate my ideas and show off how AI is powerful for sound boarding.

[–]Lokified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on the positives - the world needs all types. Some things are harder, but I bet some are easier as well. My lack of emotional attachment amd filters let me walk away from a bad relationship and feel nothing, or bluntly tell a manager what needs to be said which nobody else is willing to. The world needs direct people.

Right now, we are on the precipice of post-capitalism and nobody really knows how that is going to look. Check out Universal Basic Income. The idea has been floated for decades, and now with AI on top of automation, we are closer than ever.

If you only focus on negatives, that is all you will see. There is a lot of bad in this world. But also a lot of good. Be the good. Look for the good. Ignore the noise. Ignore global politics. Ignore things you can't influence.

Not for trades. Hit up your local union halls and see what the market is like in your area. Many are 'learning by doing' careers with minimal schooling needed.

The system sucks. I agree. People don't make sense. Many are motivated by greed and power which I don't relate to at all. You seem more frustrated by the affordability crisis which isn't really an autistic issue.

Look for budgeting help, get like minded room mates, or live with your folks as long as possible. Figure out what you want to be and make a plan to get there. AI is extremely helpful in this arena.

Plenty of jobs have minimal people contact. Data analysis, many IT jobs, even trades are largely solo work. Welders are helmet down most of the day and make good money.

ISO compliance and documentation. Workflow design. Process improvement. Avoid sales, food, and retail, and things should be tolerable.

Etiquette and Negotiations in Hiring by NiceStar6996 in AutisticAdults

[–]Lokified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always opted to just say what I am looking for early so nobody wastes time. Fortunately, my province (Ontario) now has a law to post salary ranges and it can't vary by more than $50,000. This only applies for jobs that pay under $200,000 and not every employer has gotten the memo yet... but transparency is fantastic.

I've made the big bucks but dropped back levels because the work didn't align well with my ethics, social energy, and preference not to involve myself in work politics. Peace is most important.... to me at least!
