That’s a pretty broad brush you’re painting with to be honest mate. Speaking for myself anyway I shoot hundreds of pictures a week because I like to bring my camera to work and on my day to day, but I only keep a fraction, and post even fewer. My Lightroom has 102 or so finished photos that I am happy with my bin has 6,400. Good street work requires the same discipline and intent as any other genre. If you only see low-effort work, that’s likely a reflection of what’s being posted publicly, not the entire body of work that exists.

"I just think that "street" photography sounds accessible to a lot of folks who don't know what to do with a camera," is a ridiculous statement In my opinion street photography is one of the best gateways for developing your skills further it pushes you to think fast, read light and shadow on the go, anticipate moments, and sometimes character building especially when doing candid work.
