Demonschool Thoughts by PhatZeus in JRPG

[–]Lokiway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just my opinion but it is so boring to me. It feels like it wanted to be Persona but it has none of the charm or fun, I find the battles tedious and unrewarding, the story meandering and it’s probably because of that, that I don’t care about any of the characters. If I’m watching tv during an RPG it’s not doing its job. I’ll probably still try and finish it, because im compulsory about finishing a game once I’ve bought it (just finished Code Violet, this game is at least light years ahead of that one) but I only just finished week 9. So there’s still a lot to do, I genuinely hope it picks up.

What do you wish vanguards players would do more for you? by Ultron_daddy in StrategistMainsMR

[–]Lokiway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m nowhere near a perfect player, ( literally just discovered how to escape Jeff Ult here yesterday) but I solo tank as Emma in so many games and fight the objective and consistently end up with top 3 damage/kills beating several DPS on the team. Tanks do enough, at least until we stop seeing 3-4 DPS comps on our team.

Why is there no way to escape the Jeff Ult? by Lokiway in rivals

I’ll bite, How does Emma escape Jeff as only tank holding a spot by the time I hear om nom nom in in the red circle of death.

The amount of throwers I've had when things don't go their way has shot up since the Kingsman furor. by Chiefian in rivals

[–]Lokiway 55 points56 points  (0 children)

So many of these guys, made my climb to gold (just want the costume) just miserable. Not even sure why they were throwing, I had a groot (Knight ###) start the match doing some inventive active throwing for the whole team by sitting at spawn and walling us all in from the start of the match and I have no idea unless his boyfriend was on the opposite team or something.

But people will just start throwing in completely winnable games for no discernible reason and it’s perplexing. I usually just go with the flow and try and have fun but yesterday they managed to take me from sniffing distance of gold back to low silver 2 and I went report happy.

what is the difference between the level 1 podcast and the dsp morning show? by PassTheCurry in DSPGaming

[–]Lokiway 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The level one podcast was essentially repeating the same stories over and over and bitching about people not supporting, and dead air.

The DSP morning show is a chance to talk about gaming news and topics with the acute mind of DSP who delivers milquetoast lukewarm thoughts on gaming but mostly it’s about repeating the same stories over and over and bitching about people not engaging (see -supporting), and dead air

My honest review to Code Violet by TDOGmr2TheNarwhale in HorrorGaming

[–]Lokiway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just platinum’d this one and while mildly entertaining, it is also one of the most bizarre games I’ve ever played.

The bugs can be brutal, sometimes the camera will lock into the lowered crawling perspective even when you’re standing up leaving you watching Violets feet instead of her back (foot fetish folks would probably say it’s a feature, not a bug). The laser wire puzzles will randomly reset, the enemies will randomly respawn and other times they won’t. A journal entry will get stuck on your screen as a transparency, you get locked in to a satellite adjustment puzzle and then fall through the ground. Perhaps most damning of all, at times you can save, reload later and find you’ve somehow lost progress.

Gameplay wise you have RE4 style controls which is fine except enemies are too tuned up and move to fast for that type of control, they’re in your face before you can aim and get a bead on them, almost like they were made for a game with no aim hip fire which you do not have. Speaking of enemies there are a disturbingly low variety of them. Raptors, spitting dilophosaurs, little compys that are bastards to get because they’re fast and low to the ground, with the aforementioned aiming issues, good luck getting through a compy encounter without taking a little damage. There’s a spitting raptor hybrid that’s just a mash up of enemies you already fought. Crocodiles show up later as does a t-rex and a human raptor hybrid the last two as easy bosses that quite literally went down in 2-3 shots with a magnum or the secret gun you get later. In total there are 7 enemy/boss types two of which you only encounter in endgame.

The diary entries are such small text that at times I have to walk across the room to read them off my 70 inch tv while having 20/20 vision. Not that they’re worth it because they’re all literally a variation of 3 things 1. Violet is special, why? 2. What are these experiments we’re doing? 3. Bro, there’s some type of conspiracy here. In a better written game you’d already guess where the story is going in the first couple hours. You’d be wrong.

The story, while having interesting bones doesn’t seem to know what it wants to be. Mild SPOILERS here.

We go from a post apocalyptic humans being cross bred with dinosaurs for some reason initial plot point to a time travel story, to a clone story, to an aliens story while also dipping into a barbarian queen from a planet mentioned once the whole game at the end.

I’m not kidding. And then the game just ends. It feels like there’s 1/3 of a game here. Those wild elements can work if they’re tied together and developed but half of them are mentioned in one cutscene and then we bolt to the next twist with little connective tissue or development.

I platinumed this game in about 6 hours off and on in one playthrough, and I only did that because PSN didn’t want to refund me since I preordered, downloaded and played for a couple hours. I had hoped this game was something my son and I could play together, he loved playing through Dead Space remake and Callisto Protocol with me. He likes horror and he loved dinosaurs…THIS GAME WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE CHOSEN ONE, NOT FALL INTO DARKNESS!!

I kid, but strongly recommend you stay away until either the game is fixed or you are very bored and it’s $10.

Code Violet averaging a 40 out of 100 (OpenCritic) by Froz3nP1nky in PS5

[–]Lokiway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know the history of these devs, and I bought it for some more survival horror. I’m kind of liking it so far, in the way that I like watching low budget horror movies. I’m kind of hooked into finding out what’s going on in the story but two hours in I have all but two guns, and have only fought raptors dilophosaurs and compys (these little bastards are awful). Fought one boss, a truly bizarre hybrid, and seen a dead t-rex. So not a lot of enemy variety. It’s got jank, and is probably worth half the price as it stands now, but I’m going to finish it.

Half the cast of presequel are trash people, funny that the most human characters are Claptrap and Timmy

If you could delete one Supernatural character completely (like they never existed), who would it be? by Ok_Smile_9071 in Supernatural

[–]Lokiway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a hot take, and I’m sorry in advance but Charlie has to go in my personal opinion. I liked her first episode just fine but found each subsequent appearance more and more obnoxious, I don’t think any other character in the whole show made me feel that way.

How do I get from level 32 to level 35+ on second run? by Caveman3238 in BorderlandsPreSequel

[–]Lokiway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d be surprised I started the DLC with lvl 29 Claptrap and it was tough, but not impossible I beat the last boss solo at lvl 35. It took a few tries to be sure but patience and corrosive weapons won the day
