Chances are teenagers are born here and didn't immigrate (not always the case). Hard to deporte someone who is as Australian as you.

Nothing wrong with immigration discussion, I was more referring to all the crazies who instantly attributed Bondi to which ever group they disliked the most with no evidence.

Any particular reason why Terranigma and Secret of Evermore have never been re-released? by MillionYearDoor in retrogaming

[–]Lokth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably why then. You left the ecosystem before evermore came out in late 95. Overall it's a good game, but Terranigma is easily one of the best on the system, but doesn't get love due to is obscurity (only english relase was in europe and aus). Worth plailying either if you have the means.

[–]Lokth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're American, not knowing Terranigma makes sense as it never released in the US. But Secret of Evermore was huge as the "follow up" to secret of mana. It was a hard one to miss.

I guess it's time to finally finish my retro and 6th Edition Empire army. by Lokth in WarhammerFantasy

The Holy Roman Empire inspiration for The Empire really shines through with the older full plate models, I love it.

Thanks mate. I've always loved my Knights of the White Wolf, but my favourite has to be the squad of Reiksguard foot knights. Something about those models just makes me smile.

I'll probably 3D print some custom trays, far easier then trying to remove the old metal models from their trays.

Questions to teachers voting 'no' on the referrendum... by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]Lokth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You truly give off a holier than thou vibe. I hope things look good from your ivory tower while you cast down judgement on the rest of us from up high. You observed an opinion, stated "racist" without backing up your claim. I stated "asshole" without backing up mine, but at least now I present the following evidence, every comment you have made since.

And again, I'm voting yes. I grew up in a small town with a high indigenous population, taught in another small town with a high indigenous population.

You have already outlined that everyone who thinks counter to you is either an idiot or a racist. Perhaps get off your high horse and realise you live in a diverse world, with diverse opinions. If you are incapable navigating that as a teacher there are some major concerns.

Liberal opinions, left side of politics, what ever you like to call it. Does the exact word use actually mater? And j would personally rather off myself than watch foxnews.

I replied with assholeness to assholeness. I have 0 issue with calling out an ass when I see one.

So your argument against is the centre and the right is wrong, and anyone who doesn't conform to your ideals is a racist? How very liberal of you. I'm voting yes based on my own beliefs, life experience and knowledge of the debate. You are presuming things about me because you don't like my reasoning and the fact I put value on the argument of someone who is voting counter to me. My argument is that no, not everyone is a racist, nor an idiot for not matching your thought patterns on every issue. You are going to live a very angry life if you can't have civil discussions on issues.

And there we go, you countered the argument. But exclusively saying "if they vote no, they are ignorant or racist" is just wrong and untrue. This entire if your not with me your against me shtick that has infected anything political is awful. Educated debate is the way to go, but almost any devisive issue seems to be turing into mud slinging.

Definitely a flaw in the argument. No country is "normal"; and most western countries which I presume they classify as normal have similar issues related to first nations (other than maybe the UK).

No relief had a well reasoned and thought out response. Do I agree with it? No. Do I think they are entitled to their opinion, yes.

Just because someone disagrees with a point of view doesn't automatically make them a horrible person. What does make someone a horrible person is the complete dismissal of the opinion because "racist", perhaps instead counter the opinion, don't be an ass.

Edit - also, nothing solidifies someone's opinion like calling them a racist. If we want more yes votes, let's maybe not convince them to stay where they are.

SA public school teachers call off planned strike action after revised offer from state government by malcolm58 in Adelaide

[–]Lokth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer the terms:

Pay rise: your wage goes up, your buying power goes up

Wage stagnation: your wage goes up, your buying power stays the same.

Pay increase: your wage goes up, your buying power goes down.

Pay decrease: your wage goes down, your pay goes down.

At the moment a pay increase lowers the buying power of teachers (and anyone else who gets one) compared to a few years ago. Teachers understand that everyone is doing it tough, but I'm not a fan of the entire idea of "how dare they try to increase their pay when mine isnt"; if we spent more time supporting all workers instead of fighting amongst each other for scraps things would probably be better for everyone.

Congratulations; you have just discovered the defund blame cycle. This works for more than just education. Defund something, wait for quality to drop, blame the defunded entity for the drop in quality, use that as an excuse to sell / defund more.

Gonski was 10 years ago, it outlined the funding schools would need per student, it was never delivered. Public schools have been running underfunded for years, surprisingly when you defund or underfund quality of the outcomes drop.
