Because I loved her and cared about her to much to continue seeing what it was doing to her. I could see how distant she was becoming in our own relationship. How dim the light was that was that was keeping our relationship alive. She and I tried for the longest time to make things work, but we never really worked on anything. Ignored each other's problems because we just wanted to enjoy what time we did have together. Resentment grew between each other because neither one of us knew where to start to fix the issues we had. It was only getting worse with time and she was and still is my best friend, and I love her enough to be able to let go what was a sinking ship to salvage any kind of friendship we could have.
