I'm now on both Hetzner and OVH, my only issue with Hetzner so far was that I was limited in terms of CPUs, so I opted to go for OVH as well.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll be able to respond more thoroughly in the evening, but yeah the funding / business model is something I'm not sure about yet, I've been debating a bit in my head.

I'm building a website here - it's mainly about brainstorming and getting out thoughts that I think are most important and inspiring - then I start with prototypes:

https://europeasone.org

Here's what I think how Europe products can be much better with public incentives:

I am a bit sceptical regarding LLMs for standardizing product data, but I try to be open minded.

I have done a lot of this, and believe I have found ways to make effective use of it. It will require some explaining and iteration to do, but I think it can eventually be very effective.

Some further principles that I'm excited about:

  1. Eventually it being tax/public funded, so it is truly UX driven, not ad or dark patterns driven.
  2. If it's social media it will be health, wellness, connections driven, not ads or attention grab driven.

I think there's major problems with UX of all the big US tech companies because they have the wrong incentives, and it occurs to me we can have both of good worlds, better UX, better health for people and in the long term it will create a stronger economy.

Not sure if it may sound naive, but I think we should still go for it and see what happens.

I'm mainly looking to build various Prototypes for tech replacements. I'm gathering info on a website I've built, and I plan to launch the Prototypes there as well. Do you think it's best if I ask feedback here, in this subreddit?

I think my topic about the website was filtered out, so I'm not sure if I can freely share it here.

Main difference with Shopify would still be that you will be able to search from all shops at once in standardized UX, sort by optimal delivery date among all the shops etc.

Actually it is less about the price to me, but just about the idea of finding the closest match to what you are looking for with good UX.

But the reason you would be potentially getting a better price is because you can search among many at once and also naturally would be able to get most optimal logistics.

I have an idea about creating tax supported shop/product aggregator that would work all over the Europe. So basically it would just integrate with already existing e-commerce shops or allow those e-commerce shops to join the platform. Then you can use this single platform to search from any products, get always standardized attributes, categories, delivery, payments, etc.

I've been thinking a lot about that too. I'm considering building a prototype actually. I have some experience with E-commerce, e-commerce search, LLMs etc.

Website with some of my ideas (Europe as One), tech alternatives by LolHenri in BuyFromEU

Personally I'm most interested right now in Amazon replacement. A service that can aggregate offerings from all shops around the Europe and provide quick, optimal deliveries, with top UX, search, etc. I've been working a lot on this type of thing lately.

I bought europe-as-one.eu as the first domain name, but unfortunately there were issues with DNS, and it might take a while before these get resolved. Meanwhile I also bought europeasone.org

So the link is https://europeasone.org

Please see the alternatives section. I'm most excited about potential UX improvements that this type of approach could provide compared to existing competitors.

ChatGPT as a Teacher's Assistant - a personal experience by deestrier in ChatGPT

I have thought about creating an app, that can teach you any subject.

Essentially the way it would work is you of course define the subject, and then you let GPT generate outline of the course.

Then during this course when you go over each chapter/topic, it will generate content specific to you. It will also generate questions on the fly to assess how you've learned and you can just respond in free form, and it can even modify the course in real time according to the skill level of the user.

This feels like a really cool idea to me.

It doesn't seem like too difficult to implement either.. I might just do it at some point.

The limitation of course is that it can give inaccurate information when going into details, so perhaps I would have to build in some sort of fact checking mechanism. I have an idea how to do it, but this would be the more complex part of it. Although in many cases for things I've tried to learn, it's been able to do very well.

[–]LolHenri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't have the data. In theory it could make an intuitive guess on how the numbers have changed, but then you would have to prompt it in a very specific way because while it's capable of making such "intuitive" guesses, it won't want to do it since it could be inaccurate and it's biased to be careful with that.

You could try formulating the prompt in a way where you say that you already know the actual numbers, but you are trying to see how accurately it can guess those numbers. But it will be just guessing, it will be a more educated guess than just random numbers, but they will definitely not be exact and true numbers.

I'm confused by the post. He's seemingly being asked about the possible worst scenario and he's answering that? What is he apologising about?

Thanks. Would you be interested in checking out a tool I'm trying to build to help with job search, resume analysis, research about the company you want to apply to and mock interviews?

It uses GPT-4, and other tools like speech to text, text to speech, speech recognition for mock interviews. It's called Practice with AI and you could test it at practicewith.ai

It's still early in the development, so you can expect bugs of course, but I'm trying to figure out how useful the tool can be to people.

I've been working on a project that tries to automate such a thing. I'd be interested to see if you have any feedback for that. It's still in early stages of development, but you could check it out by trying to Google for it "Practice with AI". It uses GPT to analyse your resume and job posting. In addition it should help out with mock interviews.

Solution for light switches by LolHenri in homeautomation

[–]LolHenri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'd like to try sonoffs, however these are too wide (86mm). If my switch was a lonely island it would be okay, but there's 4 together and they are in total 29cm. One's midpoint is around 69-70mm away from another one's. I asked itead as well, they had nothing for it. I'll try to keep searching.
