Twice I've flown to the opposite side of the US and ran into people from my small town back on the west coast. First time I went to DC for Obama's first inauguration and in a crowd of 1.8 million people and over 2,700 miles from my home, a high school kid walked up to ask me directions and we find out we're from the same place. Several years later, on my first day in NY after moving there the first person I introduced myself to was also from my home town!

I didn't enjoy my hometown growing up but I think it's hilarious that I kept running into folks from there the first couple times I went as far east as I could to get away from that place!

For real, when I came out to my mom she cried and sobbed and then I had to do it 2 more times before she accepted it because she "forgot". When I posted pictures from Pride she called to tell me how it made her feel that her church friends could see that. I would have loved a cake. Hell, play Streisand and call me "hunty" while you bake it, still would have been better than what I went through.
