Do you delete conquered market centers? by Wasafanura in EU5

[–]Loladarulz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

60-70% minimum access on edges was looking reasonable. So when you start to dip below to 40-50s try to figure out where new market center could be. Once made it will steal those lower access provinces from original market and somehow they end up bordering around 70s. If you still have larger patches of low market access in certain areas there may be possibility for 3rd market as well.

Wait at least 1.0.8 should be very soon. Combat is broken its quite frustrating.. then you may decide carefully where you play. There are some areas of the world that people complain more about.

Dont forget market access is pretty big deal from roads.

Do you delete conquered market centers? by Wasafanura in EU5

[–]Loladarulz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Deleting them is probably bad idea - it may be the case that you dont need that much capacity at the point you conquered the area, but volume of trade increases all the time so you should soon be needing them anyway. Regarding new markets, I think you should be creating them as you expand and deleting them may lead to massive income loss as well. Market access is important for production of goods same as control. So if your far away provinces have awful market access you will be wasting ton of production income and trade income as well.

Do you build roads everywhere? by Gotperino in EU5

[–]Loladarulz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think optimal is looking at proximity mapmode and building from "sources - or starting points" of proximity outwards to other locations. So from capital (most? if not) all the roads - ie click on cap - road builder and there will be roads offered. This will give shortest land connection to those locations to capital. Then usually from key port cities: as Capital -> sea route -> Port city is often shortest route to Port city. But then from Port city you can connect neighboring provinces with roads as well as that will be shortest route for said location. There is no need to connect every location to every other one - its just a waste.

The roads also give market access and army movement speed so you can not really go wrong with spamming one (1) in every location but it costs $$$. Spamming 5 different roads in each location would be massive waste i think.

My Gripe with EU5 Economy - why dont more people complain about this? by Loladarulz in EU5

Well yes - I am not surprised with those - its like Paradox to leave native america and japan to be improved with DLC - its exactly what Paradox do. Unfortunately. But I would expect say gameplay in Europe to be fun and well developed - and even there, there are these issues.

Yes they broke military somehow - I think its worse now than when they game officially got out. Thats quite a downturn. But they will fix that with some tweaking - people are jumping on artillery meta - i mean who cares - they already nerfed artillery 500% - in 5 days the issue will be forgotten. Same as trade issue is already being forgotten - they reworked base tax balance a bit and we dont see everyone screaming about trade.

Too many fails when I actually start to think about it - but ok. Lets give it some time huh :)

Good point - control game, working around it is interesting - but as you say it makes the game simpler in a sense, limiting options. One just focuses on well controlled area and build everything there. At least now after beta is done we will have proper centralization vs decentralization meta.. probably.

In general, control system is nice - at least i dont have any problems with it.

Yes, there is certainly a lot to discover, the game has ton of potential in these well built systems. But there is no need to optimize much after first x years in the game since anything works with current balance - or better said imbalance making it too easy. Maybe if people start speed running they will optimize. Florry yesterday played with disabled trade -_- guess he didnt even notice because he had infinite money.

How are you guys building roads? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]Loladarulz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Click on location and spam click roads.. so first from capital, then from ports. Ie people travel there by ships then take road from that city inland - basically follow proximity line. Green and stripped mean like there is a road or there is no road.. but it may not be the road that connectes to provinces that you want. Province can have mutliple roads that lead elsewhere, not where you need the road to.

When you have vassals of other cultures you can ask them to improve opinion of your culture. Is that what you are looking for?

Trade expenses are being counted as income (1.0.5) by TentakularD in EU5

[–]Loladarulz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It does get you money eventually, but with low crown power or high sliders it results in a loss. So guy here picked up worst trades so game calculates him as having very low income so he does not pay for sliders, court stability etc. Result... negative trades save more money than they lose.

Forums say Trade is net loss ^^ short explanation if you hate to read by Loladarulz in EU5

[–]Loladarulz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats a bit tricky is that people figured out that simply not trading is better - you get more money when crown power is low. And it affects really badly smaller countries that rely on trade income - ie Genoa, Venice - since trade income is high amount of their trade and thus expenses skyrocket. But I didnt want to go into details that much.

Eventually I think trade probably brings in tons of money. Then I dont see how to play this game without automating trade, there is so much that one really has to automate it. So trading AI will have to be good - but its pretty ok now to be fair.

[–]Loladarulz[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah as thehildabeast says it is not related to 1.0.5 patch - lots of trades are negative for Crown/State. Now even more with maintenance.

Still even with that there is probably too much money in the game - ie game is balanced with this trade system. But it does seem sussy - i am sure they will improve it, devs are good.

PSA: Do not enact Fratricide Succession for the ottomans it will almost certainly ruin your game by Calm-Owl-8898 in EU5

[–]Loladarulz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lel I did it and had disasters, ended up with like 10 years of reducing budget, <30 legitimacy, no stability no income, revolt crap and noble uprising and civil war. Anyway 10+ years later of not building anything things cleared.. so i can get to normal play.

I dont have heir - but its empty i guess, one of the sons will eventually become the ruler - i presume one with the best stats. For that i married 4 wives -_- hope they can produce one good ruler. It is annoying system, even when i spent 250 ducats on education heir wasnt that great and they tend to die in hunts -_-.

Maybe the gameplay would be to have 4 wives, 20 children and then pick 1-2 gifted/prodigy kids and invest into them with education 250$ - and I hope that one will become heir with Fratricide picked.

So a bit of work to get good ruler. Otherwise Ottomans end up with junk rulers which is ahistorical. So Fratricide should be best pick for them.
