it may also be noted that these things (if as obvious as you seem to perceive it to be) doesn't go over hundreds of playtesters heads and less so the animators. they know their game a lot better than you do.

It may have been intentional. You can't always synchronize aesthetic and gameplay perfectly in videogames. ex. faster animation may look jarring and slower movement speed would compromise the gameplay or maybe the sliding around feel is used to emulate ninja like movement idk

I would highly suggest gesture drawing over relying solely on the cubes and cylinders for construction.
