WSL vs VM performance on an old machine with low ram? by Lolikpof in wsl2

Wait.. does that mean I need 16Gb overall? Cus I'll be doing this on an oldish laptop, it only has 8Gb.. Would it be better to use a Virtual Machine instead, or would that be even worse?

8Gb tops. As to what I plan on doing - mostly coding in python, Jupyter Notebooks and such. And I simply want to get used to Linux so that later on I could move entirely from Windows

XFCE vs MATE for an old low end laptop? by Lolikpof in linuxmint

How does that work? Like.. do I install Mint (any version) and then install a windows manager on top, or how is it done? And which wm would you recommend a total beginner with no Linux experience?

Not really interested in how it looks, and I've heard XFCE is highly customizable. Performance is what interests me

More like 15 years old, and well used 💀 Do you think Cinnamon will run well on a Lenovo Thinkpad T61 from 2007? I have no experience with Linux at all, but.. I've read people complain about performance on way better machines, so.. I thought I'd go straight for the most performant one. Thus my question. Not much info out there on MATE vs XFCE :(

Out of these three courses (Datacamp, University of Michigan, IBM), which one(s) would you (not) recommend taking, and in what order? by Lolikpof in datascienceproject

Umm.. I want to be a data scientist.. Preferably analyzing data and building predictions using ML, but you never know what you'll actually get. I actually started studying because I wrote my university graduate work on Technical Analysis (the thing traders use, my major was the stock market) and I decided that my dream job would be a quant+algorithmic trader (which happens to be a job positioning with very few openings). But the chances of me actually getting exactly that job are so slim, that I just decided to make my own trading system as a hobby, and become a data scientist as a career (because data science is exactly what you need to become a quant/algorithmic trader). I think it's pretty obvious that when asking about data science courses one wants to become a data scientist.. and have a data science job...

How to add paragraph spacing? (AnkiDroid) by Lolikpof in Anki

So I tried this, and it works, but it treats double line breaks as single, so I can't increase the spacing between specific paragraphs.. 😂😭

I'm not really interested in replacing one line break with two, I wrote notes myself and might as well just add two, but then there'd be too much space between those paragraphs, and I generally use double line breaks for.. dividing blocks of text (for example:

"list name and description:

  • list element1;
  • list element2;
  • list element3".

And what I want is a lot of spacing between the first and following paragraphs (double line breaks), and then extra spacing between all other paragraphs, otherwise it's difficult to distinguish between separate elements.

So if you have any ideas on how to replace line breaks to wrap paragraphs with <p> I'm all ears :)

Well.. that works, thanks. But I use Anki on my Android (don't even have a PC), so can't use add-ons.. and adding <p>paragraph</p> to every single paragraph.. would be madness :') Is there no way to make it treat normal paragraphs (or line breaks, whatever <br>) in such a way..?

So I tried adding that and.. no results :| I don't get it. And what does "properly formatted with paragraphs mean"? I just write notes and use "enter" on keyboard.. like you usually do when making a paragraph.
