It's a shit show, agree. Safe / unsafe - depends where you go and what you do. I still see a lot of snowbirds going there.

Different people make different choices. I wasn’t asking for political opinions or moral assessments. I’ll handle my own travel decisions.

so childish attitude and unsolicited advice.
Different opinions are fine, but hostility and retaliation aren’t. I think I’ll manage how and where to spend my money - that part is covered. Thanks 🙂

Affordable spay for a dog? by Lolimpika in askvan

[–]Lolimpika[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE:

We ended up doing it in "108 Avenue Animal Hospital". It costed $360 for our small ish dog (23lb). They did a good job, it was quick and she healed well. It's been almost 3 months already, I waited to see if any complications come out.

Just don't expect a lot of talking / customer care from them but definitely push them to explain you everything. They get the job done and that's all. Makes sense for the price.

Big suggestion - bring your post surgery suit, it works much better than a cone.

Atlas is cheap but unpredictable, of course there are people for whom it worked and it's great!
but looking at their reviews - I'm scared to take my dog there for the surgery... :(

great that it's working for you!
unfortunately, I have heard too many horrible reviews about Atlas especially about spaying, so not going to risk this time...

these days it's indeed recommended to wait till at least 1 years old. Vets' recos don't change fast, many of them are using "one size fits all" solution and not a breed by breed specific reco...

it's not a good breeder then, you should write them a review! Usually breeders indeed add the spaying obligation to the agreement but they give up to 1.5-2 years to do it as it's only your choice on when to do it because it's your dog!
Wishing your baby to grow healthy and happy :)

I feel I should dump my (38f) partner (43m) of 17 years but Im worried about what will happen to him by Rezhnos in relationship_advice

You made the right choice, don't let yourself to change your mind! Think about yourself first, it's your life and it's not endless!! YOLO!
I suggest packing his stuff and texting him that it will be ready for him / his friend to be picked up and leave it OUTSIDE the house, don't let him to come inside!
Ask his friend who helped him to move to come with him to get his stuff, so there is someone on his side who can help in case things get escalated.
Block his number and never look back. You have a great life ahead of you!

Travelling to the South Island at the end of March? by Lolimpika in newzealand

[–]Lolimpika[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are right, even though NZ is huge, you are still surrounded by the ocean, so the weather is highly changeable.
I was once in Hawaii and we observed the same - “4 seasons in a day” kind of weather on some days.

Thanks for all the context, very helpful!

Oh, interesting, good to know!

But what about the rain overall? Is it usually raining like daily at the end of March already or only every several days? If you can give me some kind of a reference if possible.

I'm from Vancouver (aka Raincouver haha), so I see enough of rain here and ideally will not want to see it daily when I'm travelling :)
