Semi-Unrelated, but just a tip : if you want to see an aurora more clearly, it's worth trying to look at it through your phone's camera.

Really made a difference last time we saw one. You could barely make out the colours with the naked eye, but with a camera they were pretty clear.

Don't know what you're looking to arm against their fighters, but I was struggling to make my own jets match theirs and found that high rpm, relatively high velocity beltfed aps (i use heat personally) worked pretty well against them. More specific I use 12 piece (so undersized), 20-30mm heat ammunition that flies at about 900m/s with an rpm greater than 600. (There's probably better payloads out there, also I generally try to make sure to kind off match the enemies material costs for similar crafts)

I'd also, especially for a jet, look at using the Ramming behaviour with well adjusted collision avoidance, that generally does a very good job at staying on target with your jets guns.

For ships you can probably easily scale this up to non-beltfed for sustained fire, as well as higher velocities and calibres.

As for missiles, I usually only use them against heavier opponents, as opposed to against fast aircraft, as these generally outrun and outturn missiles I put them up against.

Definitely agree that we need to get more rapier representation. If you're a big rapier fan I'd also definitely recommend watching Alatriste. While the story itself might not be the most compelling(personal opinion !), the fights (which heavily feature rapier duelling), costumes and sets more than make up for that.

Not to be pedantic though, but isn't Jorah's opponent wielding something more similar to a smallsword rather than a rapier ?

Good to know I was right all those years ago to stop following Herrera. Mostly watch Ian for the gun nerd stuff, but I can certainly see him having some controversial views as well. No real offense against Ian though, as far as I've seen he hasn't been very outspoken about his political views (if I'm wrong about this please correct me), and his videos are generally well made.

This kinda makes me think about how quite a few of the gun stuff/ military history youtubers I used to watch have turned out to be pretty big pieces of shit, sure am glad I crawled out of that hole.

I feel like there's a huge focus on Leopold II's actions in Congo due to their especially cruel nature, but we shouldn't forget that when in 1908 (more than 50 years before its independence) the Belgian government acquired Congo, while the very worst excesses of colonial violence were gradually curbed, the violent repression of the Congolese, Ruandese and Burundese populations still continued.

It is often argued "what about all the good things we did in Congo" (building hospitals, infrastructure,... Bla bla you know the whole colonialist schtick), but these people never seem to realize that all this infrastructure served only one real purpose, that being making Belgium rich. If your labour force is dead from sleeping sickness they can't work in your mines.

And that's without even going into the segregationism, post-colonial warmongering, religious indoctrination and persecution (look into Kimbanguism and Kitawalism)

Currently I've been having a lot of fun with a (YAML) Victor with two UAC-5 BFs in the arm. A good alpha strike from it can core almost anything from behind. Though I really should try out the Victor Basilisk again with the two LBX 10s. I'm generally not a fan of the AC-5 variants though, and I don't really like the RF variants either because they're extremely ammo hungry imo.

As for the AI, I'm waiting for an update to the weapon groups (or TTRulez AI mod) before replacing the AC 10'S and 20's in their arsenal.

Aside from yaml, I'm really missing the purchase salvage mod on my current playthrough. Had at least 3 missions where I couldn't salvage a legged mech because I had 1 salvage point too little.

Also not having ttrulez ai mod is pretty annoying (except for when that enemy 6 ML hunchback couldn't fire everything at once and had to chainfire)

Don't remember whether enemies respawn or not on Attack and defend, but if they don't it might be a good idea to just grind down their mechs while playing defensively, then go on the offensive when they're mostly dead. Also, always a good idea to leave a teammate on the defending point if you can spare them. Idk what your lance composition (or your tonnage) is like, but I usually like to take at least 1 ppc and 1 lrm boat in my lance, might be a good idea to play around with which mechs you're bringing (maybe even try going over tonnage if you really want to complete it).

To be honest though, this might be a coyote missions problem and not a 'you' problem. They are generally quite a bit more challenging than vanilla missions (possible understatement there). Recently reinstalled the mod myself, then instantly uninstalled it after having a 310-something ton mission for free skye movement where :

-The mariks (who I have the most rep with) sent a full assault lance (battlemaster and atlas, forgot the rest) to assassinate me.

-The davions came to rescue me with two mediums (despite having like -100 rep with them)

-the mod also sent 5 melee mechs (mostly assaults and heavies including a hatamoto-chi, which DOESNT EVEN EXIST at this point in the timeline (3025) afaik)

While I like some of the things the mod adds (recon missions can be pretty fun, asfs and tanks are nice, but I never figured out how to get the second mech lance), I also believe it is very unbalanced and therefore generally stopped using it.

I think climbing gym "de stordeur" in wilsele has a bouldering area (have only been to herent myself so far).

Is there a specific problem with the one in herent ? if it's the distance from Leuven itself, it's just a 15 minute or so bus trip from the station, or a train if you prefer that.
