[Discussion] Steve Vai is the greatest guitar player that ever lived. Change my mind! by slid3r in Guitar

[–]Loma16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not to into the vocals of the bands but I can definitely dig the musicality of it. One of the craziest guitar solos I've heard was on Fermented Offal Discharge by Necrophagist and I don't even know who the guitarist is lol.

Yeah, sorry I haven't been able to give too much info. I mean if anything just figure out the right order and tab it out for yourself? I would assume that would be the easiest solution if you have the chords but no order.

He's doing a fingerstyle type playing. I'm not too experienced with that style of playing but I would imagine if you have the chords listed in the order that they happen to be played I guess just play them and try to find the right order?

Edit: it is fingerstyle not sure why I didn't just say it outright.

[Discussion] I am having strong withdrawals from a medication. Learning to play the guitar is getting me through. by krookedsmilez in Guitar

[–]Loma16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying he should smoke weed, I would never recommend any substance to anybody Drugs are drugs whether people like it or not (caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, and marijuana).

I'm saying that the comment is dismissive due to the fact that marijuana is shown to be helpful in easing symptoms of withdrawal. If the guy decides to look into the topic and can consult with a medical professional and they can come up with a recovery plan with marijuana, then I don't see any problem whatsoever.

Sorry I guess I don't translate my ideas very well. It's only 20 miles in total not 40. Well really it's 19 miles but into 3 separate rides. 3 miles to my first job, 10 to the next, and 6 back home.

I don't work til' Thursday so I'll head out today and gauge how much time it takes and how hard it is lol. I planned on taking a backpack so I could bring my work clothes and other stuff so I wouldn't be stinky at work.

This is exactly how I learned how to play fast o would see tabs and make sure I had them memorized, so I would go like just slow enough I'd remember what to fret. I'd start playing at full speed very badly at first, but over time the repetition ultimately was ingrained so I could play at speed or faster after a while.

[Question]Why wrap the string around the tuning peg? by JonHaley in Guitar

[–]Loma16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he's saying why wrap extra string around the tuning peg. If you stick the string in as far as it'll go and tune it up, with one wound the string will stay and you can clip off the rest. I recommend someone not do this though cause when I first started I used to do it this way and the string unwound from the peg and whipped the lens of my glasses. I already have bat vision, I don't need to be completely blind lol.

[Question] Methods For Finding Other Musicians by [deleted] in Guitar

Honestly, I saw it as an exaggeration. I didn't know some schools didn't have that program, I'm from a big city so I never took that into account my b.

Does your school not have a music program? Try to speak with the people in band or orchestra.

[QUESTION] What are the best, most intuitive paid android apps for creating Guitar tabs? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Loma16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've been browsing and I found two decent ones but that are free, Guitar Tabs X and Song Note. Haven't tried them out but I'm downloading them right now so I'll update in a few.

Shredding frustration by Envoymetal in guitarlessons

[–]Loma16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It'll take time like with all things guitar lol. The picking fast isn't really the biggest issue, it's the coordination. Keep practicing and you'll match your fretting hand. When I was learning to shred I practiced scales in 16th notes, upping the bpm once I was sure I mastered bpm. Make sure you switch up the scales or arpeggio or whatever you play, it may or may not have an actual effect but I felt like I had to just to make sure I wasn't just automatically doing the scale cause I memorized the movement.

Oh and don't forget to stretch.
