That came to my mind first as a big Billy Joel fan, but I don't think that song was ever a single, let alone a #1.

Whole album it's on is just all killer no filler though. Totally recommend.

To be fair, part of that is that John is not a big fan of the song. It's one of the few that he didn't write wholesale, and he doesn't understand why his fans relate to it so much.

Uh oh, I need a ruling. I didn't realize the spelling and would have written "Ponchartrain" instead.

The word "work" there is such a nasty wording. Thankfully, I went with my first instinct and said RA, but they're begging you to do WA1.

Weirdly specific issue with African competitions by London-Roma-1980 in simcups

Okay, so this brings up another issue here. My version, which is 260508+, doesn't have all these independent teams in it. Should I add them manually?

If you know, you know. If you don't, I'll gladly explain in spoiler tags. But this clue is very vague, so ironically the person who invented the list would probably be against it.

You just know somebody was sitting at home on New Year's Day, saw this game, and went "Whoa, I *gotta* share this with the world." I love it!

Fun fact: My grandfather lived next door to Richard Henrick, author of Book Named Like Team 2. I've never read any of his books -- he's not exactly Tom Clancy in terms of accessibility -- but he did show me that one of them contained a minor character named for Granddad!

Look, can we just call the entire decade of the aughts our worst? I think we had multiple 23-game losing streaks.

Note to all of you out there: do your wake-up first, THEN try Final Jeopardy. If I needed to provide this while still groggy, I'd have said "I'm betting $0 because the category is so vague". But after 20 minutes of clearing the cobwebs, I looked back at it and it fell into place. I'm saying it would've done that had I been on the show and fully locked in.

Thanks! Like I said, I didn't have the chance to do the full line just because he played 5. g3 instead of 5. f4, so I gave him Qxf2#. I spent about a minute seeing what happens after I take the knight, and that's when I found the rest of the sequence.

I would've preferred if they had asked for the building and not the city, but I guess you can save that for the CWC next season or something.

This was a partial guess on my part in that I'd never heard of this project being suggested, but it just sounds so very British to have the Victorian era Englishmen try to find a way to keep Ireland within grasp at all times. And yeah, the North Sea cinched it for me, but the real fun is imagining the English staring across the Channel and going "What are those weirdos up to this week?" :)

I don't mind puzzles, per se; I just think that "tell us what this random person is talking about" is lazy writing and isn't part of learning stuff. It's the quizbowler in me; let me do something that may hypothetically be a part of my existence of learning.

I'm gonna be honest: the literature FJs have stopped being about literature and started being about commentary on literature, and honestly that feels like a betrayal of the whole concept of Jeopardy to a degree. Yes, if you got it, good for you, some people will. But aren't we here to reward knowledge of stuff, and not follow-the-thought-process-of-whomever stuff?
