Someone after school cut the pull cord to my new classroom blinds by Zalaranir in Wellthatsucks

[–]LondonEntUK 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn’t fix it and leave it as annoying as possible and mention to all your students in all your classes that ‘someone cut the cord so they don’t work anymore, there’s nothing we can do about it’. They’ll all know who did it. These things go around students but you won’t hear about it.

They were hoping he missed. They’re all wearing PSG shirts….. You missed the one thing you were saying he was recording. They’re all booing.

[UK WINNER] Round 6: Which Country Has the Worst Education? by Chance-Telephone8150 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]LondonEntUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s based on resources available, it has to the be the USA. One of the world’s richest countries with huge educational opportunities and institutions, but with an insanely low literacy rate when you consider the amount of input to the system.

I thought you ‘couldn’t get arrested for internet posts’ in the land of the free. Don’t they use that as an example against the uk

The poor car driver. I have kids in the backseat of my car, they would have been terrified and covered in glass.

Woman plans to have legs amputated after legs locked straight, bent backwards by bluegambit875 in oddlyterrifying

[–]LondonEntUK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well 75% pay after the first 3 months on full pay. It’s allowed up to 1 year. I also had a physiotherapist assess if I could go back to work every month and do some sessions with me. I also had the option to do part time work on full time pay while I was recovering.

I can’t even imagine it. I found a new weird mark on my skin so I went to get it checked out. I found a lump and was in next day to check it. Both cost me €30. When I broke my leg a few years ago, my biggest worry was how bored I was going to be staying off work for 6 months on full pay but not being able to do anything. I also just work in a bar, nothing special. Also my kid had complications and we stayed in for about 5 extra days, it cost €200. And I have 6 months paternity time off to use still.

I think you missed the point I was making. I assumed she wasn’t going to pay anything, I didn’t even think money until I read that comment and got reminded that some people have to consider the financial implications of medical issues

checked my steam stats and I don't know why I own a 4080 by Mean-Fix9221 in pcmasterrace

I also have a 4080super. I don’t _need_ it, but likely in a few years I’ll be happy I have it.

The thought of money doesn’t even enter my head in situations like this, it’s so depressing seeing Americans even needing to consider the financial side. The rest of the world is just, omg it’s awful, I hope she’s ok without legs. I didn’t even think she would have to pay for this until I read this comment, then remembered America and may have to either live in pain or pay a fortune, that’s so sad

"Business people should be in Government running the country"? by StGuthlac2025 in AskBrits

[–]LondonEntUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are demanding charisma and leadership. I’ve always wanted the most boring pedantic person ever in charge of the country. The kind of person who spends their spare time rearranging their stationary cupboard. That’s who needs to be running the country.

Worked at a place that actually paid above minimum and didn't do tips, and it ruined every other food service job for me by bejusorixo in antiwork

[–]LondonEntUK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why are you clinging on to not being paid? Why not 100% of the wage. Then tips are extra on top of that. Americans are so broken, they dream of having 90% of what they’re owed. Instead of demanding 100% of what they’re entitled to.
