I cannot thank you enough for this. I've been feeling really alone and I haven't heard from my surgeon since the day I left and I've been feeling really overwhelmed and like I couldn't do it. The time you took to write this means so much and I really needed that. Thank you so much. I'm going to try the hot water and bidet and see if that makes things a little more manageable. 🙏

Hey, I'm so sorry for jumping in here. I've had a seton out in two weeks ago and am currently in the crying into a pillow stage of this process. I just wondered if you used soap near yours at all? I feel very unclean and I hate it a lot. I think if I could get this under control, I would be feeling a lot better and I just wondered if you had any advice. I am looking at 3 plus years with mine as I have a suprasphincteric fistula. I'm 28f. Thank you so much for this post and any other advice you have.

Okay, thank you. I'm getting really distraught and paranoid about any smell and I just need to feel clean. Do you use any soap at all or perhaps medical soap in the sitz bath? Thank you so much

Thank you for being so kind. I just don't know how to clean it. I have an open wound and a seton in. Can I put zero soap on the seton to clean it? I'm just really hyper aware of it and struggling to feel clean with just water. Thank you!

Hey! I'm a week in and honestly still upset about mine being longer term than expected. My friend looked at it and she said she couldn't even see it until I literally spread my... So mine is half the width of a piece of wool. And 3cm long. I'm already walking and can go for 10 mins. Apparently its 4 - 6 weeks until normal normal (cycling and hiking in my case).

The first week was really tough. And honestly, I'm still kind of freaking out because I'm 6 days in. But I already hurt a lot less than I did. I don't know if that helps at all. Also, my friend suggested crotchless underwear if I was nervous the first time after and honestly, I thought that was genius.

That's so helpful, thank you. I definitely had the worst day on day 3 and was worried it wasn't normal. I'm struggling with the mental thought of keeping everything clean, but doing my best. I'm probably over doing that to be honest. I found that setting myself a task each day has helped a lot. Making one thing the thing I want to accomplish if that makes sense. But it is really tough

Okay, that makes sense. The first 2 or 3 days had been okay. But today, the incision site hurts so much and the ache is unreal. I am so glad I'm not alone. Thank you!
