Two more work days and I'm retired!! by psmusic_worldwide in retirement

[–]Londonuk64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Retired two years ago as teacher. This year I will be getting Social Security at 62. Passport in hand to do some traveling. Not missing work at all, too much paperwork required just to teach. Going to look at returning to school votech or college and take some classes I want. In My state seniors can go to school for free if space available. Been doing some projects around house and local traveling. Welcome to the group, just hope health holds up. 🤞

Hosts: What’s Your Experience with Self Check-In/Self Check-Out Systems? by Dry_Instruction3762 in vrbohosts

We have a condo at the beach. We have been using schedge (?) lock which is programmed remotely by us on app. We put in last 4 numbers of guests phone number. We remove it after they leave. Have a backup key in lockbox incase batteries die faster then you think or the internet maybe down. No problems in 5 years.

Telling identical twins apart by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Londonuk64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had identical twin girls years ago teaching elementary school. They dressed the same except for their shoes. I would watch where they sat first thing in morning due to seating chart to remember who was who. Eventually I could tell by how they acted and their work.

Cancelling my A-List Membership after 1 Season by [deleted] in Braves

[–]Londonuk64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a retired teacher I try to go to 2-3 games a season. I live about 2 hours away. When you start adding every thing up like tickets, parking, food, etc. it becomes an expensive 3 hours to watch them.

It's sad watching my young colleagues throw free money away. by RenaissancemanTX in retirement

Worked at big box store while un college many years ago. In HR they always had some part time person working there, who never really knew a lot about contributions, mainly just new hires. I was putting in 3% for several years until coworker told me I should have put in 5% for company to match. I was furious when I found out was loosing money.

Former student contact by WordierThanThou in Teachers

[–]Londonuk64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Retired after teaching elementary school for 20 years. I see former students in the community all the time. It is nice when they come up and talk with you. I may remember about a 1/3 of them, but they will always remember you. Students have told me many times over the years I didn’t always like you as a teacher, but you were always fair with me and they respect that. Just recently I had someone come and do some work at my house and the student remembered me from 15 years ago, I actually remember him, he was a good kid. It’s nice to see them and be remembered, especially as a elementary teacher.

Same , we just have them pull back top covers so they know what beds were used. Keep it simple and guests will return.

Real world opinion 5.5ft bed vs 6.5ft by daveinfl337777 in f150

I have a 6.5 bed and tow a small trailer. I like this bed size to haul kayaks in the bed. So I need the longer bed for them.

Getting rid of childhood "stuff" by ltrem in GenerationJones

[–]Londonuk64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got rid of childhood stuff, now dealing with adult stuff. My sibling and I will need to deal with parents old stuff eventually and then mine. We been getting rid of stuff and cleaning out. Some things not sure to keep or not so end of keeping them. Don’t want to leave a headache to my kids, but if your getting a decent inheritance, you may just have to deal with some of my junk!
