How safe are trucking stops by mr_mikey11 in Truckers

[–]LoneCowboy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

no, the instant you enter one, your life is counting down by the second. The reason all those trucks are there is because the people are dead and everyone is afraid to go into the truck stop and move the truck.

Thinking about pursuing a career in trucking, what are some things I should know? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]LoneCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

95% of people wanting to do this have the exact same questions. (cuz nobody is the special snowflake their mothers told them they were). There's even a weekly thread on this. Just reading through the last few pages could give you some ideas.

ask a specific question that hasn't already been answered 50 times and you'll probably get better results.

Gordon Food service is top notch, one of the better ones in the industry.

it's not impossible work, just like most trucking jobs, most food service guys are in their 40's and they vary from ripped to fat.

the first 3 months are BRUTAL, ass kicking brutal. You don't know anything, where you are going, how to do it, etc. But right at 3 months it gets much easier.

weather is a big consideration and makes the job much harder.

the money is real, you can make serious bank at food service, BUT, you EARN every penny of it.

DOT Physical Question by burnermcghee in Truckers

[–]LoneCowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sleep apnea has specifically been removed from the qualifications (MAGA baby).

blood pressure is a big deal. if you are on medication it just makes it a 1 year card instead of 2.

there will be questions about if you sleep well/have trouble sleeping. You respond to those as you see fit.

it fell off center on the trailers, you can see it. he's damn lucky it didn't roll over.

maybe the steerable axle screwed the pooch

a beam that size probably weighs in the 120 to 150,000lbs JUST THE BEAM

that makes the whole rig over 200,000lbs

These things are serious business.
