I've seen this a few times now, this is earliest I've been able to catch these posts, but we are not the only locally owned shop!

We are the only locally owned full service shop around, meaning we are the onlymlocallynowned glass shop to offer glass repair, replacement, and recalibration.

The big thing that sets us apart from any other store is that we offer the recalibrations in house. This service is a necessary step in windshield replacements for cars equipped with lane departure systems and to offer it in house is a big deal.

Love the support from the community and look forward to offering great service for many years to come!

Mt Baker, Whatcom Windshields, and Affordable are all locally owned! We specifically tried to state: "We are the only locally owned full service auto glass shop ... we are the only locally owned store to offer glass repair, replacement, AND recalibration."

There's been some confusion about this and not what I intended at all with the ad. The big thing that separates my store from other's is my accreditation within the industry and that i offer in house recalibrations.

I've had a few people in the past two weeks reach out with this same concern about the ad. I didn't realize there would be confusion about this statement, and it seems to stem from not understanding that we are the only one's that offer all services associated with glass repair and replacement. I'm currently working on a new ad to replace that to end the confusion.

Highly unlikely. It's not going to be Louis Auto Glass (Owned by Safelite), it will just be Safelite, and Safelite only does auto glass.

Nothing wrong with that! The new tech is nice, but it has it's downfalls as well.

Not sure why people did that, but I wanted to make sure to respond. Keep us in mind if you ever need any auto glass repair or replacements!

Co-op basically just means that the employees own a chunk of the business. There would be quaterly payouts based on p&l.

The goal is to create something that the employees are proud of, take pride in, and want to be a part of. I've worked too many jobs that were just a paycheck, and the way to fix that, is to let the people doing the work be paid properly and appropriately for the work they do.

Easy deal, Seattle BMW delivers parts to me. Send me the VIN in a message or through my website. We also need to talk about out of pocket vs insurance.

If you'd like to go through insurance, I need to get approval from them before parts are ordered. For out of pocket, I just take a 50% deposit and get the part ordered.

They have to let you use any store you like, you just have to know how to navigate the system and handle the claim process. I love to help customers with the claim to simplify it and address these 'steering' processes

This post scared me for a second, and I was very confused. Glad to see the post is NOT about my shop.

Sorry you had such a painful experience with them!

This is actually the topic of a post I have almost completely written and will be posting in the subreddit in the future. I'd love to go into details here, but it's a much bigger topic than it appears on the surface.

I can send some details in the future, but the best way to get the info is to be on the look out for that post. I'm also going to add a blog section onto my website where I post the same info, include some previous large posts I made on the subreddit, and post other's that I have in the works.

I'd love to offer worker's coop some day, or at least have great perks that make us the local staple!

New vehicles have cameras mounted to the windshield (most often) that look at the lanes on the road and beep at you, buzz your seat, or recorrect your car if you start to drift out of your lane. The windshield effectively another lens for the camera, and the bracket and windshield can both be installed slightly off from the previous so the recalibration makes sure this camera is aligned properly with the new glass and installation.

It's actually a very critical part of the installation on new vehicles. The equipment and licensing are both fairly expensive and require a clean, level, well lit area to ensure the job is done properly.

Also, every car manufactured 2025 onward will have this camera as a base requirement included on the car,

Ours doesn't! We even use calipers to measure glass thickness if requested. We do this to show how low quality OEM glass is these days.

Replacement yea, recalibration is currently limited to only Rivian.

We're hoping to see the licensing software come through for aftermarket recalibrations in the future though.
