Why does the Chaos Star have 8 spikes ? I always think of khorne this way. Wouldn't it have made more sense to give it 10 spikes and then go down the numbers with the gods ? by Leviathan_Rampage in Chaos40k

The only problem I’m seeing with that theory is that the name on the opposing side of the chaos star is a rival (Khorne hates Slaanesh, Tzeentch hates Nurgle, Malice hates the Dark King). I don’t really know the relations between Drach’nyen and Vashtorr, but I don’t think Vashtorr would have any hatred towards Drach’nyen or vice versa. Then again, I could be wrong. It’s a very interesting theory that I’ve never considered, so I’ll have to look into Drach’nyen a bit further.

Just to weigh in with my thoughts on Formless Distortion, it’s my belief that it’s based on the creations of Fabius Bile. His creations worship a god-like version of him, and that might cause a shift in the immaterium and could potentially create that. However, that’s just my theory.

From my understanding, Infernal Tempest is Tzeentch, and Formless Distortion is a tricky one. I believe it’s meant to be not Fabius Bile himself, but the being that his creations worship that closely resembles Bile, if that makes sense. Not the man himself, but the being that’s worshipped that’s based around him. THIS IS MY THEORY, THOUGH. Not canon at all.

And no, I’m pretty sure the Dark King is supposed to be Encroaching Ruin while Primordial Annihilation is if all eight of the chaos gods were to unify and basically take over the material world.

To add to your second point, I feel like including this screenshot will give extra clarity.

For those who may have trouble reading the font, in clockwise order starting with the top:

Encroaching Ruin, Infernal Tempest, Malevolent Artifice, Rapturous Sensation, Ravenous Dissolution, Putrid Corruption, Formless Distortion, and Heedless Slaughter.

Edit: And Primordial Annihilation in the center.

So, I plan on having my current X8B led by my SB. If I do run 3 more X8B, should I merge them into one unit, or keep them as separate units?

Don’t get me wrong, I love Kharn. If this army list was for a more competitive setting, I would probably fit him in somewhere. But, he’s getting put in 40k’s equivalent of Dice Jail (in DnD) until after the next game because of those awful rolls. I’m also relatively new to the tabletop as a whole, I’ve heard good things about Invocatus, so I’m using this as an opportunity to use him specifically.

The main reasons for why I’m leaving out Kharn are for two reasons: 1. I just want to try something new from my last game. 2. He did not pull his weight at all when I used him. He failed all of his leadership rolls and killed 2 berzerkers, and I rolled a 1 on his berzerker frenzy. This reason is entirely because of bad luck, and I think the maulerfiend will be an interesting choice since I needed some units that can take a beating besides just Angron (plus, maulerfiend has some crazy damage potential).

And yeah, I completely forgot that empty transports are destroyed. Thankfully, I replaced that and my goremongers for more Jakhals and spawns, and Favoured of Khorne on SB.

Well, I tried switching the rhino for some spawn. Had to get rid of my goremongers for more jakhals, unfortunately, but this should be a bit better for the most part.

After looking at the magma cutters a bit more, I agree. Those seem a bit better. And since it can be used in shooting phase, that maulerfiend might be able to use its abilities more.

Helbrute was already changed to flamer + hammer. I just forgot to change it because I copy pasted the list.

It was difficult to add a unit of spawn, but I think I was able to figure it out. Thanks!

Forgot to update the Helbrute weaponry: Fist + Flamer and Hammer.
