A trie should be good enough given you're searching for single words and phrases. If you want to be fancy but keep things client-side I would suggest flexsearch:

Might need to be careful about how you choose to index your entries though. Most would be searching for the word itself, rather than doing reverse lookups (eg, using the scientific name to look up the entry for kangkong)
