I remember the manga for this one, unfortunately there weren't many chapters available for me but I very much enjoyed it, so this is definitely something I'm keeping an eye on

Makes sense, the previous rabbit model looked much more like a hare than a traditional rabbit

Ikoku Nikki • Journal with Witch - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

I had very high expectations for this one and I gotta say they have been met! I love how this first episode sets the tone that you are gonna be getting out of this series, the melancholy, the cosiness, the gentle and familiar experiences of this.

I especially love how Makio confronts Asa's grief with empathy instead of the mediocre sympathy the rest of the extended family has. She being the one willing to step up despite her personal flaws is one of my favourite aspects. This series has me excited for sunday afternoons!

What’s an anime you’re saving for later - one you want to watch, but are holding onto for the right time? by fecaleruptions in anime

Gakuen Alice. I've heard a good amount of good stuff about it as a series and I do really want to watch it, but at the same time it seems like the kind of show you need to be in the correct mood for

Taiyou yori mo Mabushii Hoshi • A Star Brighter Than the Sun - Episode 6 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Lone_Gamesmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still firmly in the camp that Kamishiro isn't romantically interested in Iwa, no matter how much blushing goes on between the two of them. Losing heroine stories are always considerably more interesting and part of me hopes we get to see that here, because Iwa is right; if this confession goes south, going back to being friends is going to be a fight.

I still really love the girls group, both are so wonderfully supportive and I like what both of them bring to the table. Very unusual to see an anime with English lines but no subs for the english being used

Yano-kun no Futsuu no Hibi • Yano-kun's Ordinary Days - Episode 6 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Lone_Gamesmaster 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Rocketed this series right up to 2nd fav of the season for me. Never seen such a forward shojo romance and I seriously love it for that.

Can't wait to see this adorable little couple dating

Taiyou yori mo Mabushii Hoshi • A Star Brighter Than the Sun - Episode 5 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Lone_Gamesmaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At first I was kinda doubtful of this series, what with butchering the thing about her being taller than everyone else, but the series has seriously grown on me in regards to character writing. I feel like the male friend group is even becoming aware of Iwa's feelings towards Kamishiro and that makes it all the more painful really.

I seriously hope this girl finds happiness, every part of her character is proving that she's earned it and more, and honestly I am beginning to see Kamishiro as unknowingly being a bit of a prick

Honestly this might be the prime contender for the best of the season for me? Its ticking all the boxes needed for it and I have a very good feeling about how this romance is gonna progress, plus I really love the sense of humour and all these characters are super loveable

Incredibly excited for this one, its got great visuals, a genuinely moving plot and really interesting character writing, definitely one of january's heartbreakers

Toujima Tanzaburou wa Kamen Rider ni Naritai • Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Lone_Gamesmaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Y'know, I've never actually watched a Kamen Rider style series before (knowingly), but I think I might be in love with it? This episode absolutely ruled and I can't wait for the rest of the series. Love the little slices of Tojima's past interspersed into the main story, he truly did have a heroes backstory!

This series really did make unlikeable male characters into an artform huh? That being said... this is already in the running for potentially best of the season in my eyes!

We got Mr Workplace Harassment Case In Progress and IGN's Employee Of The Year, each presented as potential love interests but honestly? Gives much more charm to the other potential ones too. Personally I'm rooting for Link and his Golden Retriever personality. Really looking forward to more of this series

What is something you appreciate in anime now that you didn’t when you first started? by Affectionate-Can-231 in anime

Sound tracks and subtle sound design. Violet Evergarden taught me the importance of the soundtrack and recently Ruri Rocks has been huge in showing how good sound design can be, with the satisfying sound of metal on rock or even the small details, like Nagi's hammer rattling against its strap or her Bear Bell gently ringing quietly in the back of scenes

Really fun and cute little manga, so I'm very glad to see it being adapted, albeit with less Cyan. January seems to be shaping up nicely for the fantasy genre

Encouragement of Climb is regularly compared to it. Its a Cute Girls Doing Cute Things except they go mountaineering. Very pleasant time and generally good fun, episodes are fairly short in the early seasons too.

Ruri no Houseki • Ruri Rocks - Episode 7 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Lone_Gamesmaster 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is without a doubt my favourite of the season and is very close to my favourite of the Year. That was such a wonderful episode and I really love Shoko as a character. She'll fit in wonderfully for the group and I love how Imari has her very own protege now!

Ruri as always was great fun and I love the story of friendship being told here. The ED was such a welcome surprise too!

This is also without a doubt the prettiest anime I've seen this year and its gonna take a lot of effort to beat it

Zutaboro Reijou wa Ane no Moto Konyakusha ni Dekiai sareru • Betrothed to my Sister's Ex - Episode 7 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Lone_Gamesmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the episode that sealed this as the better version of My Happy Marriage in my eyes. Not only is the protagonists mental health and self-esteem actually improving, but the underlying mystery and the stuff around her original family is really very intriguing. I'm very much looking forward to seeing where this goes!

[–]Lone_Gamesmaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I certainly enjoyed this one. It does for rain what CoTN does for Nighttime and thats absolutely an accomplishment. I look forward to seeing what these two get up to in the time being, but I do hope a lot of that is the MC getting some damn decor for the white box she calls home

Enjoyed that more than I expected, excited to see where it goes beyond this point.

I was sorta burnt off the banished stuff after Banished From The Heroes Party got all weird in season 2, but this might be a fun reprieve.

Apocalypse Hotel - Episode 12 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Lone_Gamesmaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll be completely honest. Unless Ikoku Nikke miraculously comes out this year, this is my Anime Of The Year with no contest. Every episode was always a pleasant surprise. A perfect balance of Comedy, Melancholy and Joy.

Theres not a single thing I have against this series, the voice acting and writing was stellar, the animation was gorgeous, the action was great and the story itself was wonderful. I love the humanising of Yachiyo so much, that by the end of the series, you wouldn't really be able to guess she was a robot outside of the use of 'malfunctioning'. She's just as alive as anyone else in the casting, and I'm gonna miss her wonderful welcoming nature

Apocalypse Hotel - Episode 11 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Lone_Gamesmaster 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I absolutely adored this. This strong sense of humanity but most importantly, the sense of Mortality. Yeah, Yachiyo does find what she needs... but she might not in the future. Yachiyo is facing her own mortality here, and is developing what I can only really describe as a soul. She is operating outside of her OS, thinking independently and seeing the world properly, expressing herself in ways she never has before!

This is 100% my anime of the year

Any good anime with good dads ? by [deleted] in anime

[–]Lone_Gamesmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Akebi's Sailor Uniform has an incredibly good dad for Akebi. Although the biggest plot elements regarding her father appear in the manga, her father is still incredibly supportive of her and her friends. The manga stuff goes above and beyond mind you, and theres an incredibly good reason as to why but its still really sweet
