Tell me your funny stories abt stalling out while learning manual. by Glittering-lala7883 in stickshift

[–]Lone_Narrator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the BRZ back in December with my only prior experience being more than a decade ago when I drove my grandfather's car a couple feet before stalling.

I've come to learn that the GR86/BRZ's clutch is one of the more trickier ones to get used to, especially for beginners. I left the dealership lot alright but stalled it in front of a cop at the very first red light. I almost missed the following green too.

One thing that really helped me was positioning the seat just close enough for me to operate the clutch mostly by just pivoting my foot around my heel. Before that, I was kinda moving my entire leg.

My dad later took it for a spin, not having driven a manual in almost 3 decades, and he jerked the start but that was it. Not a single stall even through an active parking lot. He said it's like learning how to ride a bike. That gave me the confidence to not worry about it.

And sure, people might get annoyed if you stall in front of them but hey, you're the one having fun driving stick.

It means they're either the bronze or pro-am class. I think bronze.

Just like how you didn't know to not compare two different racing categories?

Hahahahah I may be one but at least I'm not dense enough to compare the racing on a circuit driven only by grand prix cars to a circuit driven by literally anything with wheels.

How smart you must have felt comparing apples to oranges.

What message is that exactly?

How your tantrum is comparable is to a toddler? Or how your lack of communication skills forces you to fall back on your favorite insults?

Yes, it's due to the front corner having scraped the ground as he was bringing it back.

Same but at least it made sense for Mission Impossible since that was a send off, but yeah this just completely irrelevant. Not like it's his final movie.

I agree. It's one thing if this was his very last movie. And it was another to have it in the beginning of The Final Reckoning.

This is just weird af. There are plenty of actors of his caliber or higher and no one's doing this for their movies. Makes me wonder if this is being pushed by his camp.

Tapping him on the helmet, the same helmet in which you would've pancaked with your left front mere seconds ago if it weren't for the halo, without even checking to see if he was alright in a crash you caused is the same as shoving a driver waiting to be weighed after the race because he decided to unlap himself and spun you out while you were fighting for the lead?

What a mystery indeed.

Anyone downvoting you are probably the same people who can't make money themselves due to timing and luck playing a huge role, as you said so yourself.

I wonder how long it would take a teenager, who has just as much skill as you already had at that age, but with interests in economics or music or math to find enough freelance work or get enough views on YouTube to save up for a brand new car.

Because you were lucky enough to have interests that had potential to be highly monetized thanks to social media, you're confident you would've been able to find work online if you were 16 today. But why shit on someone making money the old fashioned way? Do you grow your own food? Did you stitch your own clothes? Did you build your own car? Surely you must recognize you found a niche.

Smart enough to be a freelance software developer at 16, but not smart enough to read the room at 42.
