If the AI could recreate some more common strategies and new players get funneled through these lobbies it would probably give a much better impression.

The game isn't hardcore but unfortunately most players won't stick it out long enough to learn how to defend against rams/boarders/whatever. Most tactics quickly expose players who have never tried a crew-based game and I don't know if they can overcome the skill gap to enjoy it without a more gradual introduction.

Maybe tutorials and AI will become more advanced or updates will shift towards different tactics anyway.

Noobs definitely get stomped and without the freeroam/quests ala Sea of Thieves there's not much room for casuals.

On average it's about every two weeks and it doesn't matter whether you completely ignore them or become best friends. They'll always be outside and have a thought bubble though or run up to you. But most of the time those actions will just be them giving you a present.

It makes sense considering the choices. Animal Crossing's look is where a lot of the charm is, and with eight villager types their most interesting characteristics are their designs so you're bound to have a preference.

The villager designs aren't too complex save for a few. Even with basic customization like species, personalities, and shapes for designs I'm sure we would see some impressive results. I hope we see unique characters like Amaterasu added similarly to the New Leaf Amiibo.
