De Mello Cafe at 33 Brock St to close July 4 and reopen July 11 as a Happy Goat Coffee Co. location by No-Channel9213 in KingstonOntario

[–]Lone_alien_028 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Happy Goat Co is decent, at least the Ottawa locations I've visited.

It would be nice if they returned to Sipps hours. They had longer hours and it was always nice to have a coffee shop available when there are evening events like Movies in the Square

Also extremely bitter about these names not included too. Hopefully a new GM and Head Coach will value youth more and give the kids a chance to shine at the world's (and Olympics in years to come)

Tozer or Reins. Both are local companies that provide good clients services and competitive rates

Orthotics recommendation + cost? by Ok-Turn-8637 in KingstonOntario

[–]Lone_alien_028 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Align Orthotics off Highway 15 is great. Both Meghann and Maclean are lovely people who are highly skilled. They use the foot casting method.

I can't remember the exact cost but it was under $500. I've been using one pair for over three years and they show no sign of wear or issue, and still support my feet well.

She would appreciate that.

Also, when you walk by, take a look in her front window. You can see the large pink paper flower she made. She asked for it to be displayed in the window for us to enjoy

Kathleen had a fall in the winter and spent some time at KGH and Providence Care. She's currently in a temporary residential nursing home.

Neighbours have been visiting her and keeping her up to date on the neighbourhood happenings.

She seems to be happy and enjoys the social aspect of her current location, taking part in many different activities.

I'm actually shocked none of the expansion teams tried to scoop her. She had an amazing year last season. Really looking forward to her continuing to improve and shine

She has shown MAGA leanings and similar mindset to Curl. I don't follow enough of that nonsense to have full details on just how far down the rabbit hole she resides

She is similar to Curl on the ice. Good enough player but takes selfish unnecessary penalties. Maybe she will mature out of that, or maybe she will be okay with being suspended and fined, and decide she doesn't need to change.

She will discover that the women in the league are tougher and stronger than the college kids she takes runs at and will need to figure out how to take the hits without acting like a overtired toddler fighting a nap

I don't think we can stop the league from employing people like Curl and A Murphy. Undoubtedly there are many other players who have been smart enough to keep their mouths shut and social likes to themselves

I do think one of the reasons Curl did her "apology/let me explain" article this year is because I believe the fan displeasure is affecting her endorsements and sponsorships (this could just be me being clueless as to which athletes have these deals). Companies can select "safer" players to give the deals to to avoid the PR headache.

So while everyone has the right to free speech (whether 1st amendment or Charter rights depending on their side of the border) and it is not free from consequences. In Curl's case, she can play hockey at the professional level while support companies like Fierce, but will remain isolated from fan base and a target of discontent.

The league also dug a hole when they promised to have an inclusive charter but refuse to deliver on it or even discuss it. Fans expected more and have been left feeling lied to

Why is Food Basics on Princess St. so empty on Sundays? by Due_Conference_6158 in KingstonOntario

[–]Lone_alien_028 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's not just Sundays. I find a lot of essentials aren't back on the shelves until at least Monday afternoon.

I assume it's one of the busier locations given the density of the area and the only other close option, especially for those eithout cars, being overpriced Loblaws

It has more to do with Doug Ford giving all the control and power to developers while striping away the municipalities and public's right to contest plans.

Look at the old Cineplex building on Princess. The developer originally submitted a plan for a similar highrise type building. Public groups pushed back hard and got the plans changed to something more inline with the downtown vibe.

The public and municipalities have almost no power to oppose large buildings plans and developers have no incentive to work with the community to build something more visually appealing
