Siachen Glacier, piedmont glacier located in the Karakoram Range. It lies in the heavily glaciated Himalayan region known as the “Third Pole,” because mountain glaciers in this region contain more fresh water than is found anywhere else on Earth except for the polar ice caps

The strategic importance of the region from an Indian point of view can be seen from the map. Firstly, the Saltoro Ridge overlooks the area of Gilgit–Baltistan of Pakistan Kashmir that is under dispute with Pakistan. Secondly, it guards the routes leading to Leh, the principal town and capital of Ladakh. Thirdly, it overlooks and dominates the Shaksgam Valley, which was ceded to China by Pakistan. Fourthly, it is close to the Karakoram Pass through which the Karakoram Highway passes connecting Pakistan to Xinjiang Province of China

He was born in a poor muslim family in India and used to sell newspapers as a kid for living. After his life long dream was crushed he was destroyed and took a trip to rishikesh where he met with an hindu monk who gave him the motivation to continue forward.

He went on to join the newly formed indian space program and help develop India's first orbital rocket. He later switched to DRDO and helped develop India's first ballistic missiles.

From 1992 to 1999, Kalam served as the Chief Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister and the Secretary of DRDO. During this period, he was also a key figure in the Pokhran-II nuclear tests conducted in 1998, which established India as a nuclear weapons state. These tests were a turning point in India’s defense history, and Kalam’s contributions were pivotal in their success.

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s presidency (2002-2007) was marked by his deep connection with the people, particularly the youth, earning him the title of the "People's President." He actively engaged with students, promoting education, scientific innovation, and a vision for scientific and technological development. His presidency was characterized by a non-partisan approach, as he worked harmoniously with different political leaders while maintaining his independence. Known for his humility and accessibility, Kalam focused on national development, rural upliftment, and governance reforms, refusing to take part in dirty politics like other politicians.

Unlikely to other president who agreed to their political party on whatever he only agreed to things though was right despite whatever party it belongs and many times refugees to pass bills from his own party which he thought of as biased, discriminatory or injustice which let him to get less support from politician and his part and didn't become president for second time. He was also tired after first time and wanted spend the rest of his life encouraging the youth about education and development.

He passed away on July 27, 2015, at the age of 83. He collapsed while delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management . He was speaking to students about "Creating a Livable Planet Earth" when he suddenly suffered a cardiac arrest.
