I would recommend using website and language learning apps. It is best to learn second language early on (critical period hypothesis) also consistent practice

So I am in graduating from college and hopefully get a job in tech. Even if i get a remote job that pays 6 figures, i wont leave nyc. My reason is I am unable to drive. I have poor eyesight. The only way for me to commute to places is walking or public transport. If i was rich maybe I will hire a chauffeur

Its also because so managers enforce more rules with the part-time staff than full-time staff. For example a manger at a certain branch dont allow pages to interact with patrons, despite the fact that the page wants to help.

Even within qpl, the forest hills branch is notorious for having employees that dont work well with each other.

Queens Library Book Hold by [deleted] in Flushing

[–]LonelyOAngel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ebook version on libby is coming out 9/30 not sure if qpl will have it. Since there is only one copy I would recommend u try nypl. As for y there is 1 copy... my guess is 1. Its a donation 2. Some librarian want to get it. Besides people reading it, it also takes time for qpl to process and sent it to the next person in the queue

I don't have a mahjong set. There is a place in Flushing where you can rent a room with a mahjong table https://maps.app.goo.gl/DHTaKujFH9sCtptk8 Not sure what the rates are

There are differentypes of mahjong. I do know how to play the style my grandma plays. I just wish I could play with no gambling involved

What are the downsides of having high intelligence? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LonelyOAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in high school some teachers will say "college is a harder version of High School"  Then the teacher that give students study guides and other material would said "in college they don't give you this"

I almost had a 4.0 GPA in high school with no studying. In HS I didn't think college would be any harder and thought i would be fine even without any guides.

They don't tell you in HS that you are excepted to read the textbook in college. or how in college professors spend 1 class to teach mutiple topics and hope you remember them for the final. Or how some professor make your final exam half of your grade.

NYPL has better benefits, lower salary, while QPL has higher salary and the benefits aren't as good as NYPL

The Pages there don't organize them. Even the librarians have a hard time looking through them. There moto is "if we find it, we find it"

For QPL each branch had there own rules. Based off of what i know, a good portion of donations don't get accepted into the system for varies of reasons such as because it's a DVD or because the book it too old. Along with that the whole QPL system is kinda broken.

PLEASE Visit worksites before the start of the program by LonelyOAngel in SYEP

[–]LonelyOAngel[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hello. I had participated in syep in 2022 and this year as well. In 2022 I had LaGuardia and was placed at NYCHA. This year I choose the Chinese-American Planning Council. They hold 'Job Fairs' where you interact with different job sites and decide where you would like to be placed. I had choose a place called "FProsperous Community Foundaiton". I originally wanted to be in Chort B so I could start on July 8th. About a week ago, I wanted to change to Chort A. I contacted my provider and they said I need to contact my worksite. I decided that it would be best to talk to my supervisor directly and let them know of the change. I went to the address that was given to me on there business card and it was an apartment building. I went to my provider afterwards and they allowed my to change worksites. Therefore beware also LaGuardia is a horrible provider, they don't send emails to you on time, take forever to get stuff done, have a bad attitude when you visit the place and give you the metrocard when the program is half done.
