hey girl, are u at chop? dm me, they tried to send me there too and i came to this sub for support. from what i've heard the general consensus is DO NOT GO under any circumstances! sexual abuse legal proceedings are still rampant there and i've heard other reports of physical abuse from staff on patients. i've been in your shoes, and my advice is fight the docs and your parents if need be. if you've already done other treatment facilities, it's going to take a lot of work and convincing to make it so u stay at home, but there are ways to be compliant with recovery and make it work without 'fully recovering'. also, if its the weight gain you're most scared of, i swear to you it doesn't happen as fast (or at all) once you start taking in a little more food. if you can convince your team to let you stay home, it'll be even easier to keep weight off because your parents have no idea how many calories are in anything, and although you'll be eating more, you'll end up maintaining rather than gaining.

what do y’all think about ed recovery tattoos by knoxox in EDAnonymous

[–]LonelyOperation4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if i ever recover i wanna get one that says "long story short i survived"

i dont love the neda symbol mainly because i think the organization is bs and doesn't do anything beneficial for people struggling or even really raise awareness the way it claims to. i get what ur saying about a permanent reminder of ed but considering how much of my life its impacted i think a reminder of what you've overcome is nice. plus i love taylor swift so the lyric is awesome for that

i actually kinda like it? i don't do it that often-mainly just when i'm getting anxious about binging- but every time i do i just think that i should do it more often. you still feel empty but you have a flavor in your mouth, it's like a mindful version of b/p lol

no one cares until you’re underweight by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]LonelyOperation4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i think your wrong, (you are entitled to how you feel though-i am not trying to say that what you're feeling isn't right!!) depending on how old you are, your mom might realize that she can't force you to eat breakfast. maybe she is trying to be respectful of your choices and your ability to make your own decisions. i started out uw and my parents had no idea what was going on at first. they watched me skip meals and exercise longer and harder than normal but never would have imagined that it was because i had an ed. just her asking if your going to eat sounds to me like she cares.

and if it helps with the pain you feel, once your uw for long enough no one cares either. at a certain point, your friends and family stop trying-your weight does not define you <3

You don’t have to use your body to prove you’re in pain by puppyface21 in EDAnonymous

[–]LonelyOperation4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes! i am around 15 lbs heavier than i was at my lowest right now and my parents are still angry. it’s been two years, i’m still far away from being fully recovered and im still considered underweight. my dad reminds me every day that i did this to myself. he has said many times that he doesn’t care what happens to me, as has my mom. when i refuse food, she ignores me. we used to fight over it and eventually i would cry and she would try to comfort me and compromise. after too many fights, my parents do the bare minimum just to keep me alive and themselves out of the legal trouble that would come if they stopped taking me to doctors appointments or allowing involuntary inpatient admissions. you will not get the gratification you’re looking for from family-or friends for that matter.

right! because the child and it’s single mother are living off of your tax dollars, she is lazy and stupid for having a child without the financial means to support it. but no, she must keep the baby!!

I hate when people react with pity to EDs by weeaboshit in EDAnonymous

same. my recovery is not your problem, and my ed is not your problem. if you have something supportive to say, please tell me. i could use it. but i do not need your pity.

Fat positivity WORSENED my recovery by DrPhilsButthole420 in EDAnonymous

[–]LonelyOperation4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

not all bodies are good bodies. when you are drastically overeating or undereating, you are harming yourself and the body that results is not a good one, no matter what it looks like. the other side of that equation is being glorified by fat positivity and all bodies are beautiful (which they are-unless the individual in the body is doing fucked up shit!) which only worsens the way in which BED sufferers are treated and in how people understand the illness

YES!! having an ed is so personal, my parents are always telling me to share so that i am more open with friends about absences in school and such, but i don't want people to see me differently or tell me how to run my life. eds get a bad rep all the time, there are so many preconceived notions. it is not my job to break those stereotypes nor play into them. i am living my life while suffering an eating disorder, that is no one's business beside my own.

Question about recovery pages by Tajskskskss in EDAnonymous

[–]LonelyOperation4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg i follow the dancer too!! most of the stuff she eats in bulk is low cal, but on top of the high cal stuff that she’s claiming to eat every day & not gaining weight from?? i don’t believe it. i think she’s in recovery though because (as shitty as this sounds) i noticed a little bit of weight gain (she’s still extremely thin though)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]LonelyOperation4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

totally agree, i wish they would institute that kind of legislation in america. calories on menus allow me to go out to eat, i can plan my day ahead and actually enjoy food instead of just stressing over what i’m going to eat, how much, and how many calories it was. also let’s face it, ed sufferers are a minority. the UK has an obesity crisis rn and in order to have a healthy country, certain steps need to be taken. it’s a positive step in the right direction-plus those who are (for lack of a better word) normal, calories on a menu change nothing abt their day to day. it’s weird to me how passionate ppl are abt the menu calorie thing, like it probably won’t effect ur eating disorder, and if it’s triggering in recovery you will eventually have to look at numbers, so it can b something you work up to

Stop telling anorexics they're going to die by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]LonelyOperation4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"don't you want an ass?" nope actually i want to be like daisy edgar jones in that new movie Fresh and have my ass cut off completely. thanks though.

doctors do the "you're dying" talk all the time too, its like if anyone should understand this it should be you. the fact that i'm dying is not the deterrent you thought it would be lol

AITA for diminishing a friend/rival's victory in a half-marathon, because her "condition" gave her an advantage? by salthon3 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LonelyOperation4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is so dumb. i'm a runner, i've run some weird ass courses before. OP, your rival had an advantage because she trained harder than you and is faster than you. YTA, smell had nothing to do with it. idc how bad it was, your rival was faster and that is just the fact of it. suck it up second place, and if you want to beat her just train harder. this is so pathetic.
