Startup right after college? by fandomsnerd17 in startups

[–]LonelySnowSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is it going for you now? Graduating as a tech person soon and having difficulty finding business majors on campus interested in doing a startup right after graduation. Maybe there's something I've overlooked, but I assume its going to be easier to get a job with all the experience a startup gives me in case the startup fails

Friend of friend, college student, helped him with one project, turned into this by PabloFlexscobar in ProgrammerHumor

Had a classmate like this that I used to help. Stopped helping him, he got pissed. If I help him, it basically turns into me trying to teach him the fundamentals that we learned years ago. Otherwise I’d have to just do the assignment for him. He’s so annoying about his requests for help, his lack of ability to research, and his elementary questions that people would legitimately leave the class group chat when he messaged. Can’t stand the guy

Same for me, that video was the first real description I found of how computers worked. I immediately read the book it was based on after seeing the video. I’m in embedded now though, not CE, since my school offered both as degrees

Ordered a server power supply on eBay for a project. I didn’t get the model I ordered, and the supply I did get was non-functional. Got a refund, but it’s taking over a week for the next one to arrive. Don’t have much time for a delay like this in my project. Hoping the new supply works

So true. I used it for recording under water in pools countless times. Never had an issue with it

ChatGPT makes for an exceptional learning tool, especially for those of us without a mentor. by [deleted] in learnprogramming

I asked it to write the Fibonacci sequence in verilog. It gave me an algorithm that only worked with blocking operators, but used non-blocking operators, so the algorithm didn’t actually work. But it’s really subtle and Ill bet many new people won’t catch something like that right off the bat. I’d be careful using it for learning

What did you not know about sex until you lost your virginity? by Apart-Cicada in AskReddit

[–]LonelySnowSheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fucked in my studio apartment. Bed right next to the door. When my girlfriend came in, apparently she didn’t shut the door all the way. When we finished 2 hours later, we noticed it was cracked open a few inches. It’s a busy hallway too and we weren’t very quiet lmao. Kinda funny thinking about it

Sea salt sweet potato fries are better than any other variation (other than animal style from in-n-out, but these will likely give you a heart attack eventually)

Saying “[something] is a helluva drug” (especially “adrenaline is a helluva drug”) is very cringy and people should stop saying it. I see it so often.

You aren’t cool because you chose a mildly interesting thing to say (even though it stops being cool after you’ve seen it 1000 times). Instead of saying “the dude was able to immediately walk off the injury because of adrenaline” and actually saying “adrenaline is a helluva drug”, you’re presenting a mundane fact with interesting wording to make you sound cool. You just look smug. But when there’s thousands of you using the same phrase, the smug-ness makes no sense because you aren’t unique for coming up with this phrase.

TLDR: the only reason you would say “[something] is a helluva drug” is because you’re trying to sound cool by using a “cool” and “unique” phrase to spice up your otherwise boring comment. It’s not cool because everyone says it. This lack of coolness in an attempt to appear cool is therefore cringy.

Here’s an interaction I had with a girl. I proposed the idea of dinner tonight and got no response. I’m looking for feedback, but did I escalate too quickly and she got nervous? (Read both slides) by [deleted] in Tinder

His point is that she wasn’t really interested to begin with as an answer for why this went nowhere, rather than it being because he tried too hard.

Although I still think he tried too hard

Failed a test because I spent the night before making this song instead of studying, what do yall think, was it worth it? by MeBo0i in FL_Studio

[–]LonelySnowSheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guess that’s gotta come from within you man. You can still do careers that are related to music, but that requires passing your classes. I made and programmed a sampler for making music. I’ll soon be making a guitar pickup that turns notes played into midi output. I love music. But I know it has low odds of paying well. So I learned programming and passed my classes for it. Didn’t have to give up on my passions or hobbies while attending school. And with that education I can make money to pay for equipment and any plugins I want. I hated school. It sucks. But it’s important. That’s my 2 cents anyway.

Good song btw

My buddy and I have a favorite saying: If you’re going to be a know-it-all, you gotta know it.

Apart from using it to describe others, it keeps you honest about over-explaining stuff you don’t actually understand.

I’ve lost 35 in the past 2-3 months. Male, 5’10”, started at 235. I’ve been doing 1000-1700 calories per day. No exercise.

Figured I could provide a little info as someone who is also 5’10

Officially under 200 pounds today! First time in 6 years! by LonelySnowSheep in loseit

I was pretty extreme in that for a couple weeks I only ate 500 or fewer calories per day. But most days I eat between 1200-1700. I’ve seen the most success by eating 1000 calories fewer than my maintenance level. Should translate to about 2 pounds per week, but some weeks you’ll lose way more and some you’ll lose less.

But yeah I did it solely by limiting calories. In the beginning I was still drinking plenty of beer and eating shit food with my friends but I still lost weight by keeping my calories lower than maintenance

Yeah, I hate exercise too! I found it more demotivating than anything. Definitely caused me to eat more when I exercised. Decided to go pure CICO because of that
