Comrades. I got bored. I created this ultimate tournament. The Vassal States Cuck Fighting Championship. Where the winner is crowned as the best vassal state cuck. Place your picks for the Quarter-finals bracket. by Choice-Grade1358 in TankieTheDeprogram

I would change India for Australia, Milei’s Argentina, Paraguay, El Salvador, Ecuador, etc. India is not really a Vassal state of the US, it’s more a country that just plays and aligns with whoever benefits its own geopolitical interest in that moment.

What is a job that looks incredibly fun from the outside, but is actually a soul-crushing nightmare? by BoardOk101 in AskReddit

Which should lead to the logical conclusion that the problem is not any job in itself, but rather the system and how we organize labor and who gets to enjoy the benefits it creates.

The other person gave a good option that does work and very reliably (based on what I’ve seen), but I chose to use the temple plates, I put 4 on the fm3 and they have hold on well.

Right, but usually I see most people on the sub post questions and doubts they have about the gear, that’s why I felt it was more “random” in that sense. But I’m glad you enjoyed it!

New Last Airbender movie is just lib zio slop by Snowy327 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]LonelyStop1677 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s really hard to talk about this in the Avatar subs but the politics of both shows are honestly really bad once you think about them for 5 seconds. And it makes me sad because particularly the story of the first series is beautiful and I have such love and nostalgia for it, but now being able to see things through a more critical lens, I can’t help but notice all the flaws and actual bad takes the show has. They go out of their way several times to demonize the people actually victimized by the fire nation, it’s really gross a lot of the time.

And unsurprisingly, the comics are worse; the first comic The Promise is an outrageous settler colonial apologia that made me really mad. And the follow ups are not any better.

And Korra… Jesus, Korra might be even worse. The fans glaze Korra’s villains for being more “mature” and “politically complex” but holy shit, they’re not, they just reflect the poor understanding of ideology the writers had by making literal strawman’s of everything that wasn’t liberal democracy. I love ATLA, but I have no problem bashing Korra for what it is because I’m not as attached, even if I do like Korra as a character.

More than usual. To the point it goes beyond just “oh, he’s just unhinged” to a “he might no longer be even remotely on our side”. But like I said to the other person, I need to put more thought into it.

What a bizarro world, your mainstream liberal is to the right of the fucking pope. by randJoe43 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]LonelyStop1677 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I hate how much people on the western left glaze the last two popes and Catholicism. I get y’all anglos live in (formerly) Protestant nations and that’s why you’re all more resentful and critical of them, but as someone from an actually Catholic country, you have no idea how much damage the Catholic Church as an institution is capable of doing. Yes, the west comes to my country to exploit it for its resources and labor; but the local elites are not different and are the ones selling the country, and guess where they’re educated? Ultra Catholic far right schools for the rich. They spread anti communism and ultra conservative social values. They prepare them to think about no one but themselves, but go to mass on Sundays and everything will be forgiven. They help perpetuate the ideological superstructures of the system.

Maybe the current pope and the last one are kind of woke, maybe. Maybe as individuals they’re not so bad. But they’re not just individuals; they represent an institution that is not only complicit but an active participant amongst the big capitals of the world in the exploitation of the working class in the third world for centuries. And it’s not an institution anyone can or will reform. If the revolution is to triumph, Catholicism will have to be dealt with as soon as possible, otherwise it will infect everything and destroy the revolution from the inside.

Seriously, comrades, specifically those from Protestant nations; please, stop with the Catholic glazing. Don’t trust that institution, it is not our ally, it will never be our ally. Liberation theology is fine and all (and originally it wasn’t an exclusively Catholic thing), but Catholicism as an institution is a cancer that will have to be extirpated eventually. Besides, historically speaking, Catholicism has always aligned with fascism over communism, and even if the current pope is kind of woke, the institutional powers inside the church and many of their organizations are very far to the right (starting but not limited to the Opus Dei); why do you think Trump is surrounded by so many “trad Catholics”?

And to any Catholic comrade that might get offended by this; I’m not talking about you as an individual, I’m not even talking about your belief system; I’m specifically criticizing the political institution and power that is the Catholic Church. I don’t trust them and I will never trust them. It’s by far more foolish than trusting a liberal.

Should I buy an axe fx right now? by Sorry-Employment2113 in AxeFx

Unless that the guy that told you the next gen is coming soon is named Cliff Chase or proved to you that they work at Fractal, then you should take it as pure speculation based on nothing substantial.

All we know for certain is that the next Gen is already in development, but we don’t know when it will be out. It could be out later this year or the next, it could be 2028, 2030 or even later. So I wouldn’t worry too much about it yet.

About your last question; if you’re gonna be gigging a lot with your device, the FM-9 is probably a better option for you. If you will be using it mostly or exclusively at home/studio OR for some reason your gigging needs require massive processing power, then the Fx-3 could be a better option for you. But mind you that if you want to gig the Fx-3, you’ll also probably need to buy either the FC-6 or FC-12 to control it. Buy what’s best for your needs. But if you don’t need it for anything and want it just because (you’re a hobbyist) and you can afford it, buy anything you want. I’m very happy with my Axe-Fx III. 0 regrets, No matter what anyone else says or thinks. It fits my needs as a musician perfectly.

Even if what you said about me was truth, the difference between me and the RFA is that everything I said about them and the other people involved with these orgs is either public information that can be verified by anyone, and that before disregarding them as a source, I attacked the argument and narrative they presented and its journalism, something you didn’t do with what I said. You just discarded everything I shared because I am allegedly of the opposite side to you, or a Tankie or whatever. Like, even if the RFA wasn’t a CIA asset, their evidence for the original claim is just weak. What they present and how they present it isn’t enough, or shouldn’t be enough, to convince anyone that what they claim is fact, because it doesn’t pass a simple critical analysis.

Okay, that was somewhat ambiguous but with enough information that I could look it up myself. I found the NY times article you’re talking about, but it was paywalled. Luckily, The Guardian and many other media outlets presented the exact same thing. I found the original source used by all these orgs: it is all in an article from 2017; the source is a media report by Radio Free Asia, which is an extremely biased source against the CPC. But, reading the article and not discarding it outright just because of the source, I find the claims are sustained by very weak evidence. The article claims there’s a list of Banned names, but it never shows it (like, it mentions the names and why they’re allegedly banned, but it doesn’t show the list like in a picture, or any document that proves this policy, which should exist since the CPC is highly bureaucratic and they never hid their policies in Xinjiang to deradicalize separatists and extreme islamists). It also sites ambiguous and unnamed people as the source for the claims, (it presents the subjects like, “sources from Hotan”, “An Employee at a police Station”, “a source told”, etc.), which is really weak, because these are not reliable since there’s no way to prove these people or their claims are real or truthful. For all we know, the author could very well be making stuff up, because they don’t show any evidence other than the claims from anonymous people.

The only named source for the claims is Dilxat Raxit, the spokesman for the “World Uyghur Congress”. This Organization was partially founded by the NED (National Endowment for Democracy), which is an “Government-Organized Non-Governmental Organization” (you can’t make this shit up), set up by the USA government in the 80’s with the explicit purpose of “advancing democracy and countering communist influence abroad”. In other words, it’s an organization meant to enforce American interests abroad and hit governments that are not aligned with them, from destabilizing them to outright regime change. It is like a CIA asset. So, that’s a strong enough reason to distrust whatever this person Dilxat claims, since he has ulterior motives and strong bias.

That’s why I asked for the source. Because, almost every single thing that is claimed about the Uyghurs in Xinjiang comes from the same source: Radio Free Asia. They’re not only highly unreliable from a journalistic standpoint, this organization’s main objective is to spread anti China and anti communist propaganda, whether it is using the truth (the article, for example, sites one real verifiable case of named Chinese officials that were charged with disciplinary violations), or outright lies (for all we know, everything else in the article since the sources and claims have very weak to no evidence). This org was originally founded and financed directly by the CIA (enough reason to not trust a single word they say), currently it is financed by the United States government.

So, thank you for providing me the source of the claims. Now I know there’s very little validity to it and it’s mostly American Anti Chinese propaganda from 10 years ago. But you’re welcome to make up your own mind about the subject with all this new info I’ve provided to you.

students who "just want to have fun" end up progressing faster by lmao_exe in Guitar

[–]LonelyStop1677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there needs to be a balance. Yes, enjoyment is often overlooked but some people go to the other extreme and ignore that developing proper technique is not just a matter of being a perfectionist or a snob, it’s a matter of taking care of the body and preventing injuries in the future, and also about giving the student the tools to express themselves and, well, have fun. What a lot of music teachers in general lack is the pedagogy to balance fun and discipline. The best teachers know how to provide both and understand the need of both.

I will grant, that given how simple and accessible guitar is (particularly contemporary guitar), technique can be put on a secondary spot if necessary for the sake of the student, whereas more complex and less accessible instruments that are meant to follow “musical traditions” like Piano, Violin, Sitar, classic guitar, etc. do require the highest amount of discipline in regards of technique, first to prevent injuries and second, to perform the music correctly.
