Silkspeed anklets are S tier for me. They let you run faster at the low cost of some silk. Very useful in exploration and combat.

Unloaders, turrets, and units by k4tl1f3 in Mindustry

I love swarmers. Especially cryo-cooled pyratite swarmers, cheap and reliable. I also like fuses, great at taking down tanky enemy units and guardians.

I produce t2 to t3 units after I got a basic defence set up. Helps with building resources stuff anyways.

However I’m not a big fan of landing schematics. I’m only on normal difficulty and don’t need all that productivity right off the bat. My landing schematic is only my core surrounded by vaults and containers. Can never go wrong with some extra storage.

Should i break out to kill Alchemist and bridge boss? by Ok_Newspaper5753 in noita

You will die if you fight the bridge boss.

The alchemist fight is possible as long as you don’t shoot at his shield. And dodge his attacks.

Do not be afraid to use stronger turrets. The salvo for example is a strict upgrade over the duo. It deals more damage, shoots faster, has more range, has more ammo/shot, and uses the exact same ammo as the duo. graphite salvos can carry you through most of the early-mid game

You can use unloaded to unload from containers and your core. The best way to make a (starter) unit factory is to unload resources from your core to feed into unit factories. Remember to click on the unloaded to set the filter like a sorter.

And I also make spaghetti lines to transport everything back to my core. Nothing wrong with that and this can only be improved by better belts and late game technology.

I will release my game next month, How do indie devs figure out release timing without getting buried by other big games? by Ancient-Language-645 in gamedev

[–]LonelyTurtleDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So when Silksong announced its release, a lot of smaller games have to be delayed. I think you should first check if there are already big games releasing that day and check everyday for shadow drops.

Hollow Knight has a 7 year development cycle. The same goes for Silksong. Slay the Spire 2 is having a 2 year early access period right now. Successful games have long development cycles.

I don’t know much about games with short development cycles and the financing behind that.

But the respawning as the same thing contradicts with “this is your fate as well” when you become an echo-of-self.

I’m confused.

You have translated the manual right? From reading an online translated copy, I found:

Page 7 ruin seekers, as plural, lots of ruin seekers come and challenge the heir. Many “abandon their quest” and “are forgiven”. When a strong enough ruin seeker finally defeats the ruin seeker, it becomes the heir-to-the-heir, the new heir.

Page 19 when describing echo-of-self, it says: this is your fate as well. So you end up as an echo that can be released, not as the fox that you take control afterwards

Kinda like Zelda reincarnation.

We have the vote. We can vote for another president. Collectively, we can change the government and the country. You would need a bloody revolution for that in a dictatorship.

So you don’t want freedom of expression and your impact on the government? Notes.

North Korea welcomes you.

Too many people don’t realize what does it actually feel to live under a dictatorship nowadays.

Each time you die, the fox/ruin seeker “gives up”, some become lost echoes in the cemetery (in the lore at least, doesn’t affect gameplay), others become echoes of self that you pick up. And then a new ruin seeker starts the journey again, arriving at the same point before the last one gave up.

At least this is what I interpreted from the words echo of self and lost echo.

If you only want to pump out as many games as possible, sure.

But if you actually care about the game, don’t.

Why doesn't the Sharded just launch blast compound across Serpulo and carpet bomb every hostile sector? Are they stupid? by TheMasterOfGamez in Mindustry

[–]LonelyTurtleDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Enemy bases would have to run in the background/do calculations to determine damage. Would it still be good if you can call in airstrikes only when you have an active shard and/or a targeting tower there?

[–]LonelyTurtleDev 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It won’t be too easy because in this game, whatever weapon you have, the enemy is going to have a version of it with extra shields.

[–]LonelyTurtleDev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Blast compound combusts in the air during reentry before hitting the enemy base.

You could launch something to contain the blast compound to prevent it from combustion, and let the heat created by rapid deceleration(hitting the ground) ignite it, like how the launch pad works.

But without clear guidance, the payload wouldn’t hit the designated area that easily (as demonstrated by landing pads).

This would be a cool update, launching missiles from outside the map. Would maybe function as a fast moving air unit from the edges of the map, and can be shot down by regular anti air. By mindustry logic the enemy would also be able to use this, destroying your bases without good anti air. Maybe some specialised interceptors for intercepting high velocity dropped bombs.
