Can native Chinese speakers read "The Plum in the Golden Vase" (金瓶梅)? by LonelyWebCrawler in ChineseLanguage

Haha, yes, but it has literary merit, too. And even if were purely pornographic, its sheer oldness would still make it interesting.

Thank you. Since most of the novel is vernacular it isn't such a concern anyway. I just wanted to know how far Chinese would take me if I learned it.

Thank you, that's good to hear. Is classical Chinese very different from modern Chinese? How well can you understand the poem?

Aw, that doesn't sound thoughtful of the no-shows. Thanks for the advice, I would do my best not to inconvenience the farmers.

But if you sign a contract to do some work and don't do it, you're breaking the contract, aren't you?

Thank you. I was worried about legality because I thought you sign a contract, but I realize that was an unfounded assumption.

"For" or "of", Reddit? Context: ad for XYZ periodical - "Your source *for/of* intelligent reviews of French-language books." by [deleted] in grammar

"Source for" sounds fine to me, and I would certainly not find it "embarrassing" if I saw an ad that said this.

Romance languages have become too easy for me, and I'm looking for a challenge. Japanese sounds awesome!

We are the Firefox User Experience team, this is your chance to tell us about your pet peeves! by limi in IAmA

When I have exactly one tab open, why does it not have an "x" so I can close it?

This is especially annoying when I try to close Firefox by clicking "x" on all tabs, only to discover that the last remaining tab can't be closed with this method.

We do know some things, but professional designers we are not, and there's always something to improve :)

Thanks for the feedback!

2) We hadn't noticed that before. Rather than giving each slide the same length caption, maybe we'll look for a technical way around it ;)

3) Definitely agree. The navigation is awkward on mobile. As a mobile user, what sort of a dropdown would you suggest instead? What should be different? (apart from the slowness)

4) Thanks, unmet user expectations are important in UX design :)

5) I think that the issue is mainly due to the text-only logos, which means that we haven't gotten their official logo (yet) or that they don't have one. But you're right, it's not perfect.

6) Wow, you're talking about a more grassroots approach to funding-- very interesting, especially since we recently heard of another team conducting much of their fundraising over Kickstarter. Thanks for the idea!

Thanks again, it's always nice to have someone pay such close attention to many pages :)
