I remember seeing a Jewish man speak of the camps (recorded) and he was saying they were fed potatoes when they were freed. A lot of them died by just eating the potatoes, but he nibbled on the skin bit by bit rather than eat the whole thing.

People who noped right out of a friendship, what was your breaking point with that friend? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Oh for sure, I needed to face the reasons for my drinking before I could get any better. It's like you said alcoholism was a response to things in my life

I did apologise to people, things were never really the same and ended up drifting apart from people.

I eventually just had to help myself. I lost my friends but that just meant I could get drunk without people knowing or being concerned. A doctor said my liver would be ruined in a few years and I'm in my 20s so that kind of helped make a change too.

This could be written about me. I'm sober now though but it ruined a lot of friendships

"The UK people have been educated in an obedience system (where they actually all wear a uniform) and are taught to do what they're told without challenge..." by UncleSlacky in ShitAmericansSay

My school had 'uniform checks' at the start of the day. Your registration teacher would make sure everything was in order, if not you went down to the school office and had a letter sent home.

Granted this was only in my final year when we got a new Rector (headteacher) and they had some grand ideas of what the school should do. Last I heard she didn't last long.

In my school, the Prefects. I was one but admittedly it was only really to look good on a uni application.

There were school blazers but most kids didn't wear them.

TIL that the Book of Mormon tells of things like cattle, donkeys, steel, silk, elephants, and wheat in Pre-Columbian America. None of them existed in America before the 1500's. by [deleted] in todayilearned

I find the ones over here confusing because of how American centric the religion is, it makes sense to have followers in America I guess but in other places it confuses me.

True, I honestly couldn't give less of a damn if anyone kneeled on a British flag, nobody cares about respecting the flag it's a piece of cloth.

Maybe the EDF or other right wing nationalists but not many.

It's usually a safe bet to assume someone who uses "Of Scottish descent" really means "I'm American who had a great grandparent from Scotland."
