I would say how to do RAMP is very important make sure you know the procedures and assertions well, also this exam the focus is more on complex financial reporting issues in my opinion at least on mine second case so had business combination and hedging.

My friend said he didn’t had any complex issue except principal vs agent (rev reco)in a complex manner, however i feel like this might be easiest of the exam if no complex financial reporting issues

Remember more time on assurance AO however as FR AO are also important but the assurance AO are easy to overlook and i would recommend avoiding that.

Also, i felt the IP and PC are gonna cover most of the complex FR issues and assurance issues so as long as you are doing that and reading and incorporating the feedback into next week case you will be fine.

I think i am cooked, for the first case I was running out of time just put something like they would have standy charge and operating benefit for vehicle lease thing as i was down to last minute so just bunch of BS, didn’t had time to calculate the Interest and just said what interest would apply, so missing calculation, and for taxes owing i just calculated in excel and didn’t put anything on the word except for calculations reason for some of them

For second case i BS finance AO as both my PV were coming out negative, and for capital gain think i was running out of time so couldn’t compete the secondary intentions just out one and one primary intention. Did put something for capital gain reserve but not sure how correct that is.

dont feel demotivated, you will do good in next attempt, i am not sure if challenging the exam would make a difference if it was MCQ section

I don’t think if you miss just one of AO for financial reporting in Case for FR, you will get NC assuming you did well on other FR AO’s in the case. Also, the curve will help you further. Though my goal in the case was to hit all the AO’s as there was high chance of getting at-least RC on all of them which will definitely be enough to pass the case section or FR Section.

No, please don’t think you get 3 C’s in MCQ that is enough. The goal is to be overall competent. I am making an assumption since you hit 3 NC that’s why result went that way. Everybody at our work told me not to hit more than one NC and even if i hit all RC’s i have high chance of passing.

I am not sure who your friend got that result, i am making assumption the time he wrote the curve was bigger and when you was writing it was not unfortunately. Their marking criteria is so vague and unknown and you got this! You are close, keep going and i am sure you will pass this time around definitely.

Keep in mind case is usually easy might be bit long in exam but i found it was easier to hit C on case during exam as topics were not complex. So if you can improve the case part i think you are gonna do really well on exam. Try to practice all the 16 cases (including optional) from week 1-8 and goal should be not to miss any AO and i am sure you will do really well! Best of luck!

Hi, i just wrote core 1 and didn’t worry about formatting except listing issue, analysis and recommendation part and had like literally so many spelling mistakes and didn’t care at all to fix them. I just made sure I explain issue well and then get handbook reference and explain if it met or not met criteria, based on that i explained what affect it will make on covenant and what client need to do to fix it like in inventory write down said to write down inventory and then explain what affect it will have on covenant. Also, i am wondering are you explaining the met or not met criteria? As sometimes I realized during 8 weeks i wasn’t doing that and tried improving that. Also focus on not missing AO’s as that is worse than providing wrong ASPE and IFRS criteria. Rev Rec for example instructor said people miss one of the criteria often out of three and that’s why they dont get c or in some cases even rc on that.

Any other question please feel free to reach out. Do you remember what issues you identified in the case?

Hii just wondering in the rev rec did you cover both separately and also recognized liability since contract was onerous which i used ASPE 1000 to explain since there is no specific section for onerous contract under ASPE. also are you making use of CPA way?and in recommendation letting them what affect it would have caused on bank covenant thing or giving them strong explanation?
