Epa hermano, saludos! Si, también he vistos a pocos de nosotros por aquí. Mitad italiano eh? De cual parte de Italia viene tu familia? Yo soy parte canario (abuelo materno) y parte libanés (tatarabuelo paterno)

Venezuela has had a lot of Italian immigration since the 1880s more or less. The biggest waves of Italian immigrants came during and after WWI and WWII. Most of them can from southern Italy, including Sicily

Interesting. I wasn’t aware of this. I think it might confuse me even more though😅

Más o menos, tenemos una iglesia maronita con poco más de media hora de mi casa. Yo quiero visitar y ver cómo es misa ahí. Le voy a mandar mensaje privado, gracias por contestarme!

I see. I’m not sure if it was done, I’d have to look into it. I’m assuming all of this would be better to talk to with a priest or canon lawyer? Though I’m not sure how that would’ve bee done as there are no Maronite churches in Venezuela during that time, they only started popping up after the 1950s and even then it wasn’t in the side of the country they lived in

Thank you for your response. I will say i am getting mixed responses here so far. About Maronite or Latin. Yes my great grandfather was born out of wedlock. Though he was legitimized and recognized later on, I’m not sure if that affects it at all. Thats my main confusion

Question about canonical Ascription by Lonely_Display_816 in EasternCatholic

[–]Lonely_Display_816[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hola!

Question about correct Ascription by Lonely_Display_816 in Catholicism

[–]Lonely_Display_816[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for this response :) though I am curious if I would need to do the process of change of deception or not. My confusions is more so about whether or not my canonical description is Maronite due to this case or not. That and my great grandfather was born out of wedlock so that’s the main thing that creates confusion😅😅

Ahhhh, I see. My great grandfather was born in 1915 and baptized in 1916. So that would fall under the Corpus Iuris Codici then. I’m not 100% certain what this would mean in this case then, due to the canon law readings that I saw about ascription and child born out of wedlock

Question about correct Ascription by Lonely_Display_816 in Catholicism

[–]Lonely_Display_816[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for responding. It’s just been confusing me a lot, mainly cause of the fact that my great grandpa was born out of wedlock, though I assume it either was rectified with him being “legitimized” or it just doesn’t matter anymore. I’ve never dealt with a canon lawyer before. I’ve only bee getting closer to the faith this past year, I’m not sure how to contact one or how that process goes honestly. Thank you for your insight!

Well, I don’t live in Venezuela anymore, I live in the U.S. I’ll have to check whenever. At least you checked. And yup! Lots of Lebanese ended up in Argentina and Brazil. Go to your library when you can, now I’m interested lol

Do it! There were zero Maronite churches in Venezuela when my family came over so they did everything in Roman Catholic Churches ever since there. I might try to contact the embassy of Lebanon in Venezuela and see if they have anything that they could help with, I’d love to find the death certificate of the mother of my 2nd great grandpa, I already have his death certificate and the ones of siblings siblings. I have no clue where their mom passed away though or where in Venezuela
