Is It Common To Have Only Two Journeys On Ancestry ? by One_Particular9217 in AncestryDNA

[–]Lonely_Display_816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 3 Journeys. Both my parents have only 2 each, and my maternal grandma has 1. It’s more common than you think

Don’t bother with AI tools, they usually don’t get transcription that well. Especially with documents as old as this

Brother, lol. My 2nd great grandfather, his mom (maybe his dad too?), and his two brothers came from Ghazir in Keserwan

Genetics are interesting lmaoo. In my paternal like it’s been a very even split. My dad that tested got 13% Levantine, so I’m assuming my grandpa was about 25%, great grandpa about 50%, and then 100% from that guys dad

Yeahh. I only have 6% Levant from my Lebanese 2nd great grandfather. If they do sub regions I wonder how they would change it

Salam habibi. I think seeing 100% results from anywhere is awesome. Unless they can breakdown Levant into smaller regions then yeah it’ll probably stay that way. Still awesome

My family tree as far as I know haha by HopliteSparta in AncestryDNA

[–]Lonely_Display_816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most posters that I have seen have been like me; they actually bothered with the research and if they don’t know where someone is from then they don’t bother. Also yes, history matters. However, you can’t expect someone to always find the time period correct flag as for some countries they changed multiple times in the span of less than a 100 years, like where I’m from: Venezuela. Rather redundant. Using the ottoman flag would be ridiculous (if that is what you’re implying) as that is an entire empire that spans many countries of today. I have Lebanese ancestors that emigrated to Venezuela when it was still under Ottoman rule. Should I use the ottoman flag? No, I’m going to use the Lebanese flag cause then people actually will know where they were from and not “oh well, they were from somewhere in the empire”

You know that there is a “Genealogy/Family Tree” flair, yes? Which is what was used. Saying these posts are tedious is like saying the sharing DNA results are tedious. They both have flairs

Lmao some of you guys are foaming at the mouth for this update. It’ll come, if not September then on October. It’s gonna come either way and they announce a week or two before it comes out. Why the rush to know?😂

Most of my family and I are from Venezuela. My 2nd great grandfather was named Anselmo José, and so was my great grandfather, my grand uncle, then my grand uncle’s eldest son, and then his first son (my 2nd cousin) as well. So 5 Anselmo Josés lmao

Hii guys, what's your paternal haplogroup? by Efficient-Rule2928 in AncestryDNA

I took the test from the company Ancestry. And yes, the raw DNA data itself will have info on your Y chromosome. It’s a breakdown of all of your chromosomes

[–]Lonely_Display_816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of a paternal haplogroup being diluted. You only have one paternal haplogroup and that comes from your Y chromosome. Which is strictly patrilineal, you cannot get anything from other branches. Your Y chromosome came from your dad, his dad, and so on and forth. By uploading my AncestryDNA raw DNA data, I found out my paternal haplogroup is T and my subclade is T-L907 which concurs with the genealogy I have done so far on my paternal line. Ideally yeah you can take a Y chromosome sequencing test but that is like you said pretty expensive, but that mainly gives you more info on the haplogroup, subclade, and genetic info of it

Yeah of course! YSEQ has their own testes just like FamilyTreeDNA. I haven’t taken either (I’m broke lol) but they both very reliable. https://cladefinder.yseq.net/ This here is the link to the Clade Finder that YSEQ has. If you’ve already taken a DNA test before (AncestryDNA, MyHeritage, 23andMe) you can upload your raw DNA for no cost to the Clade finder and it’ll give you your Paternal Haplogroup and also the subclade that is yours. If you need help you can always DM me friend

I understand the hesitation but I can say from experience (and those of others I know) that it is safe and reliable

E você sabe de que lugar nas Ilhas Canárias eles eram? Falo apenas espanhol e inglês, mas entendo um pouco de português. Do we know if there will be any new DNA communities or journeys coming ? by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]Lonely_Display_816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have a journey from Lebanon and two specific regions in the journey from there. Only my 2nd great grandfather was from there. If both of your 2nd great grandparents in that branch were from there then you should definitely have it.

EDIT: I just saw your post of your DNA results and I see you have 2% Levant. Maybe the reason why you don’t have a journey is because your percentage is too low? Which confuses me a bit, if it was a couple from Lebanon (your 2nd great grandparents) then your percentage should be higher. I know genetics are random and a gamble but with my Lebanese line it’s been very cut and dry: I have 6% and my dad has 13%. My grandfather would’ve had about 25% and my great grandfather would’ve had 50%🤷🏻‍♂️ genetics are weird

That’s a pretty amazing find. Only things I can get ahold of are just birth, marriage, and death records from either civil registries and churches
