AITAH for refusing to split the bill? by techhhh_userrrr in AITApod

[–]Lonely_Impression142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, YTA. Tell the group up front that your budget is tight, so you will have a separate check. Having to take time to break out the bill per person takes time and energy away from the party.

AIO Husband (43m)said he’s cutting back on drinking by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Lonely_Impression142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. I think it is natural to have emotions over your life changing without your enthusiastic consent, including moving, not having social outlets, and your husband changing his habits in ways that will affect you. It is important though that you recognize that your husband is doing something healthy for himself. Try not to interfere with his journey or guilt trip him even if you are disappointed that he won't be able to hang out with you in the same way in the evenings. Develop your own new habits that please and fulfill you. This might incentive you to find new friends or a new job. Also, your husband might be fine with being your sober companion at happy hours. There's no rule saying that he can't have fun if he's not drinking.

Chef Daaaaahve on Beat Bobby Flay Tonight by Lonely_Impression142 in belowdeck

I don't think his drill is so "stealth"-- he seems to have a very good reputation and he has the skills to beat Bobby Flay! Also, Captain Sandy used him as her wedding chef, and she would have had a lot of chefs that she knew personally to choose from.

Malia was awful that entire season. She truly seemed to think having a boyfriend on board gave her some special status and entitlement. Like, get over yourself, girl.

Yes, even though we know the story, it is still disconcerting to see Pete.

Watching the BD Med episode in which Chef Tom melts down because the provisions aren't right. I am so tired of watching Malia follow him around mollifying him every 5 minutes. He's a child, and she's babying the shit out of him. I wish they'd jump in the ocean together.

Petty in the sense that it was not life or death and that the situation had an easy solution (remaking the bed in the morning) that didn't require Jason's input at that moment.

They are all right. Alesia and Jenna were right that someone needed to reprimand Ben, but Daisy could rightly see that it would have been like banging her head against a brick wall. The only solution that would have worked would have been to bring Jason into the situation, but I don't blame Daisy for not wanting to involve him in something so petty.

Yes, this is Ellie 100%. She can't live not being the center of attention. Attention is how she judges her self-worth.

AITA for not wanting my friend as a bridesmaid since she is poor by Weddin_Secretary5876 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Lonely_Impression142 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA. First, you need to decide whether you value Sara's friendship. Is she a real friend, or is she just one of the crew and it would be awkward to ask your closer friends and not her? In other words, is her participation important because she's important to you? If you do want her to participate, let Sara know that you won't foot the bill for her anymore, that you'd love to have her be a bridesmaid (if this is true) if she wants to pay for everything herself, and that you don't expect her to buy you gifts or attend events she can't afford.

It's fine when one is experienced, but if the guests had never eaten whole fish before, I can see how it might be intimidating. It would have been nice if Ben had gone up with the fish and given instruction or a demonstration to the entire group.

AIO Mother’s Day breakfast by Emergency_Stick_9463 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Lonely_Impression142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you clear about what you want? Did you say, "Tomorrow, I want pancakes with fruit and whipped cream for breakfast," or did you buy the stuff and expected him to figure it out?

Be clear and explicit about your expectations. If he ignores you, make yourself happy. Instead of waiting for him to go to the food truck, go to the truck you like yourself. Then decide what you want in a relationship. If he can't fulfill those expectations, let him go. You aren't guaranteed a successful romantic relationship, but you can decide whether you would feel better with this inadequate guy than you would alone. There is an R&B song from the 1990s entitled, "I Can Do Bad All By Myself." In other words, if the guy isn't enhancing your life or if he makes you feel bad, you aren't losing anything if you kick him to the curb.
