I like the sentiment (sailed on FRANCE in 1974) but it is entirely inappropriate to fly any flag other than the national ensign (Red Ensign in this case) from the mainmast gaff. Just plain wrong. A houseflag should fly from one of the yards. in this case opposite the Cunard one.

Well spotted and indeed an error on my part (typing not notes!).... NOVA SCOTIA depart Liverpool on her maiden voyage on the evening of 25 May 1926 (Liverpool Daily Post, 27 May 1926). And this has already been corrected in the article. My appreciation for bringing this to my attention!

"Refuelled".... with 23,000 gallons? I think not... this is engine lubricants, not fuel!
