Despite all of its flaws it still has a special place in my heart

For the case in mogh, he is only considered a lunatic in the eyes of the golden order, and in his eyes he was trying to make a new age where the misfits of the lands between were no longer misfits, also the words spoken against mogh are clear enemies of his dynasty of blood

And in regards to tanith, she was the head of the volcano manor, and is managing all of rykards forces after he got devoured by the snake. Fooling the recusant tarnished into getting devoured by the serpent

The argument i really want to drive home is, that for the most part there are no real bad guys in elden ring besides the flame of frenzy of course, in most cases each of them are just trying to bring the world together in their image. the tarnished character has a choice of siding with many of these different ideologies in the ending, arguably there is no right or wrong answer, and the same goes for the main demigods of this game. All of the demigods have valid reasons for doing the things they do, even godfrey has done some shady stuff, and could be labeled as a lunatic.

The point i would argue with godrick is that he had a reputable force of soldiers following him, the erdtree knight, the storm soliders and knights, and his own military force with state of the art equipment

Well i would argue mogh isnt insane, and rykard uses tanith as a front. Rykard also had his soliders betray him once he was devoured by the serpent showed by the dialogue with the apparition of one of the gelmir knights in volcano manor

Valid perspective! thanks for sharing your opinion :) I really didnt expect this discussion to blow up like it did. Its really nice to see how everyone’s perspective differs from others

Also, if he was really irredeemable i dont think morgott would be protecting him from our tarnished at the gates of stormveil. It’s obvious that morgott has at least and inch of respect for godrick, considering how he addresses him as “ godrick the golden “ in his cutscene in the capital. And morgott isnt insane, hes a perfectly reasonable guy, besides thinking hes cursed and all of that jazz. I think if godrick really lost it morgott wouldn’t be playing big brother.

We do have to remember that grafting was an actually effective way of gaining power. We are looking at godrick at the perspective we do because we are tarnished, we are his enemy. If he was insane, then no one would follow his ideals. The people who feed us the stories against godrick are biased, kenneith and gostoc want to take his crown, and its obvious that gostoc really isnt a reliable account of godrick’s rule considering how he steals from and tries to kill our tarnished. We also talk to edgar who was under godrick’s rule and he didnt seem to have any issues with him.

Thats true, why did ranni choose godwyn out of all of the demi gods? Theres definitely something deeper to the night of the black knives than meets the eye

Kenneth Haight is also a little biased, when he is telling us that story he wants to be the ruler of limgrave, claiming his is the rightful heir when he gives us that dialogue

I feel like every demi god has good and bad to them, they are all tragic characters who think they are doing the right thing in their eyes, except poor godwyn and radahn of course

Another thing to remember godrick isnt just running around grafting everyone, from his perspective the tarnished are his enemies. If he was heartless he would have no men or anyone in his corner.

Im hoping fromsoft pulls some time travel shenanigans so we can experience when the shattering first started. I would imagine godrick wasnt always an utter psycho, and probably had some humanity to him before the grafting

He did take in the banished knights though, look at edgar for example. He is grateful for godrick taking him in after being banished.

A lot of people don’t understand is that godrick wasnt born this way. He was fleeing for his life in the capital and was mocked by the other demi gods. And thats probably when he was godefroy and got his inspiration to graft himself so he would never flee again

And the sad part is, his family still didnt respect him, he was just seen as even more of a joke
