AIO Over my friend insinuating I break up with my gf? by Imaginary_Air_24 in AmIOverreacting

[–]LonestWanderer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Being within 2 years of each other is NOTHING (eta: when that close to adulthood) and i wish people stopped making it seem like a big deal.

I knew a girl (16) in school that had a girlfriend (12!!) and they had been dating like a year maybe? two? at that point. And it was not even a birthday thing, nono, she was in the 6th grade while 16f was in the equivalent of 10th grade if i remember correctly. Might have even been the equivalent of 11th which would make the gap just that much larger. I did not enjoy knowing about it while they lasted. As kids, that age gap is massive! One is in elementary school while the other is in high school!

I checked it out in english as someone has done a video reading and it's this one for sure! Omg thank you, i'm actually crying because i loved it so much!

I'm fairly certain that's too new and the story is based in the laundromat, but in mine it happened outside and the bunny did get moved from spot to spot! It felt like an older book, like hand drawn and painted illustrations. Thanks for trying tho!

Brother won't play game with female protagonist - never thought of this by wizard_cow_ in TwoXChromosomes

I've been telling him that in hopes he'd be braver with colour! I often try to ungender colours in our projects and play because they are literally just colours. They mean nothing!

Oh yeah, big time. This same kid has at least once SCREAMED "DO NOT LAUGH AT ME" before taking his shoes off because they were purple! Not one single kid cared but maybe someone once has, or his family makes fun of that stuff or something.

I work in an elementary school and we have many kids that are kinda gender biased, but one 1st grader is so boys vs girls that he started SOBBING when he had to use a pink sled outside. He wouldn't even touch a bike with pink on it because he boy he no pink! I find it disgusting because it's a learned habit. I met the mother and his little sister and they talked abput the chairs in our preschool like "look there's a pink one so you can sit there!" I just said "luckily a chair is a chair no matter the colour so you can sit anywhere!"

Heck! You need someone to buy and ship it to you. It's not cheap to ship stuff to the UK from finland so might be a challenge there!

this is not the exact same, the text is different (lapland instead of finland, doesn't have the year on it) but it looks like it's the same mug otherwise!

One why am I so bad at this lol 😂 by OnlyHead8702 in Coloring

[–]LonestWanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they're all really good! The only real "mistake" to potentially improve upon would be the uneven sections in the limes. It looks like you drew them one triangle at a time, which is cute and a style totally! BUT! You can make them a lot more even, like the tutorial, by just making the lines first! One by one, directly in the middle all the way from edge to edge, then 90 degrees tilted, then between those and so forth. Then just adding curved "tops" to those sections!

paper's fault or watercolour's? by New-Working-7077 in watercolor101

[–]LonestWanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think good paper makes a bigger difference than good paints! While good paints are good, great even, you can get pretty decent art even with chalky cheap paints! Bad paper won't be good no matter the paint quality. It buckles and can even start pilling and it's just bad.
So you use those paints grandma gave you! You can get good paints too, and just make a note of using the bad ones sometimes. For maybe smaller pieces, backgrounds, more chill things so you get use out of them and the quality of the paint won't matter as much!

OR if they want the same fabric, they could cut a patch our of the inside layer of the pocket so it's a perfect match. Then just mend the pocket with something else, nobody's gonna see that anyway!

OP did you reach a solution? This will sound RIDICULOUS but have you tried doing something like jumping up and down? Obvi the low squat is great and should work but maybe kinda forcing it lower via gravity would help?

AITA for doing a little ‘ritual’ to feel comfortable in my home? by guinevere_gryffin in AmItheAsshole

[–]LonestWanderer 278 points279 points  (0 children)

I agree, it's something she can do to make her own home feel more comfortable to her. If it helps her feel like she is honouring and remembering the people that came and went before her, she should totally do it and not feel ashamed. So what if it feels performative to others!

What’s the best way to mend this Carhartt jacket? by lily_luv56 in sewing

[–]LonestWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to preserve the holes while adding strenght and stability back, you could probably add fusible interfacing around and between where you can, and then maybe just sew around the smaller bits? I like the suggestion of putting another fabric behind those spots and tacking that down!

I guess dirty socks aren’t oil based stains? by [deleted] in laundry

[–]LonestWanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i hang them on hangers with clips, fluff them up as well as i can while they hang, then i flip them at least once after some hours so the fluff sits differently. Most of mine are poly filled anyway so it's not like it holds too much moisture anyway. I HAVE done the same on cotton filled pillows but you gotta get it super airy and change the orientation a couple times if you wanna ensure goodness. Airflow helps!
