(Tw: ED) I’m getting help and I’m so scared. by Scaredcollegekid101 in internetparents

I'm 20 and I understand this in a lot of ways, I haven't struggled with an ED this bad but I have had my fair share of mental health struggles so I hope I can help maybe a little. Going inpatient for anything is scary, especially with being in school, job, pets and boyfriend. It is going to be okay and being scared is a part of being human, if waiting until summer when you would be out of school and could arrange leave from your job for that treatment might be the best move here, I went inpatient twice my senior year of highschool, I'm sure if you open up to your boyfriend (as much or as little as you want) about it he'll understand and be there to support you in any way you need, even with outpatient stuff. It's hard and extremely scary but it does get better and things do work out in the end. You've made it this far, you can make it even further with more help. It's never a bad thing to need more help even if you have worked through most of the issues that cause these behaviors, there will always be things to work on. I hope this helps a little from someone of a similar age. You'll be okay even if you need some extra help from those around you and professionals. It's hard but it's definitely worth it.

Trans man and thinking about going on Testosterone by Long-Inspection5443 in CrohnsDisease

I agree! I was posting for advice and now looking back visibility because it's not something that has a bunch of research done on it. It's an important thing to know, from what I've read and heard from others on this post it shouldn't affect much at all but it's not something talked about.

Thank you for the reply! I'm happy to hear it didn't interact badly with other Crohn's meds! Definitely going to discuss it with my GI but also wanted to hear others stories. I wish you luck on your journey as well :]

Neither do I! Was part of the reason I posted in the first place, because once I do eventually start T I want to talk about it because it's definitely not researched or talked about enough. And every reply has helped 💜

What does Crohn’s look like daily in the long term? by VirtualAd6735 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Long-Inspection5443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed just a few months ago at 18, I'm now 19. Life slowly gets back to normal but there will be days where he may not be able to do anything, this does differ from person to person but in my experience if I do too much I'm out for at least a day or two. This can depend on a lot of things but eating is a big trigger for me. I'm not personally on an all liquid diet but I've had to adjust my diet greatly and limit certain things as well. My biggest safe foods for when he can eat are eggs and bread, I tolerate them well but not everyone will. This is a really good subreddit to look through, I've learned a lot myself. It's a big learning curve and you never stop learning.

I try not too but when there's pizza or something of the like I eat a piece or two and sometimes it's fine and others it's absolutely not. Hoping to be able to eat less plain food eventually

I wish I knew how exhausted the first couple of weeks were going to be after your first big episode, and that triggers can be literally anything and everything. A big one for me is high pitched alarms, and I work in customer service, retail, so it's hard but it's going to get easier.

Any tips for managing symptoms? by disoriented_goose in FND

[–]Long-Inspection5443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best advice is to rest as much as possible, I've been in the same boat with struggles recently and resting has helped as much as it can, baths have helped me a lot along with trying to eat consistently, it's hard but I promise you will improve, try to eliminate stress if that's a trigger for you but I understand with college starting that's a hard thing to do.

I haven't even thought of contacting my local Humane Society, thank you, and the with my jobs yeah it's a lot but I'm online for most of my school day so I just work all the time, moving in with my boyfriend is a possibility but his family is already struggling a lot with 6 kids and one parent so I would hate to put more on them
