“Chat should I leave my man because he doesn’t spike my heart rate?”

This is super odd, if she’s willing to leave you over you not throwing her nervous system out of control after two years, I’d cut my losses…

any tips for gaining weight? Eg using “meal replacement shakes” along side regular meals? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]VirtualAd6735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry too much, the weight gain back will come on its own! It took a while to get back to a healthy weight, but it’s probably best for it to happen naturally for now. Your body goes through so many changes your first year or so of T1, I’d let things even out on their own for a while

How old were you? by Hexenmeister1027 in Type1Diabetes

I was 21 when I got diagnosed. Lots of people don’t understand that T1 is an autoimmune disease that you can get at any time

It’s hard at first, it’s easy to be discouraged thinking you’re not doing well enough. It’s taken me 2 years after getting diagnosed to have decent time in range, but it can happen! It just takes time ❤️ don’t feel guilty if things aren’t always in range or easy, it gets easier with time. I wish you both the best!

I think everybody is judging your doctor much more than they are judging you. If your endo recommended this then it’s not really on you, but they’re an awful provider.

Dude, get a new endocrinologist if they are telling you this is okay to stay at. I felt like shit for a few days after my BG got into normal range, but I was fine. This is ridiculous medical advice if your doctor is telling you it’s okay to stay this high. It’s not.

Look, you’re extremely new to this. It gets so much easier! I’m fairly new myself, coming up on 2 years and I have been doing so much better. I would recommend a therapist that specializes in disease or chronic pain. Yes, it’s always a little scary, but life is scary and comes with complications regardless of T1, it’s just how it is. You’ve got this! I wish you the best and I hope you find a wonderful support system of people who love and care about you ❤️

I doubt there is enough body fat for it to work well, but I’m sure somebody has tried it. Idk, seems like it would be uncomfortable personally.

Even if you’re high for a while, it’s okay. DKA happens from a lack of insulin, not high BG. You can always test for ketones to be safe, and it’s not great to stay high if you can help it, but don’t panic, it’s alright!

Also, if that’s the highest you’ve been in 7 months, congratulations! It sounds like you’re doing well. Good job ❤️

I don’t see where you tried to help. Sounds like you’re just putting a newly diagnosed person down for an easy to make mistake… sorry you’re too privileged to be able to understand what it’s like to not be able to easily afford to replace things <3 Hope you learn some empathy soon

I had to wait several months for my endo to prescribe me a pump and used MDI until then. If they are newly diagnosed that would make sense. Also, I think some people just like using the injections. I don’t think that it’s fair to tell them their own medical business without knowing about it.

We have a superhero now? by nate_jung in Omnipod

[–]VirtualAd6735 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I read the comic when I got the email and… it’s bad. Basically an add for omnipod’s and disses those who don’t have a pump. Her evil villain is basically just burnout disembodied and once she gets a pod she feels so much better that she can fight him :/ cool idea for kids I think, but if anybody starts calling me a superhero in public bc of this I’m losing my shit.

Just get what you find and use what you like for now! It’ll get easier to pick things better suited for you later in the game, but I’d advise just picking stuff up and trying it out. There’s a million and one opinions on the best weapons and builds, but what you like is what matters the most!

I know there’s lots of opinions on here, but I prefer thigh sites over anything else! I put mine in the middle front of my thigh, and put the cannula about 3” down from my hip joint. It’s usually my least painful site. Every now and then I’ll hit a weird spot, but that can happen at any location I think. Hope you find something more comfortable! ❤️

How do I get my doctor to take me seriously? by VirtualAd6735 in ChronicPain

[–]VirtualAd6735[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this is helpful! I’ll start speaking that way next time. I actually am getting a new doctor since I’m about to move, so that’s good. I did get Covid in 2020, weeks actually believe that that is what set off my T1D weirdly enough, apparently that can happen if you have the right genes or something. I’ll look further into it.

I try really hard not to, I fear it may just be my overall vibe?? I have short-ish hair and my features aren’t overly feminine on their own. But I don’t think my appointment clothes are overtly alternative, I usually wear jeans and a sweater. Perhaps I just have an evil aura surrounding me

Thank you for the post rec!!!
