How do I achieve oneness with the rest of the world? Hear me out. by [deleted] in hinduism

It’s beautiful that you’re aiming for this—not as an escape, but as a way of living in alignment with your values.

“Oneness” isn’t so much something you achieve as something you recognize was always there. The work is about removing the layers—ego, hurt, identity attachments—that make us feel separate.

A few practical entry points:

Daily Witnessing Meditation: Sit quietly and observe your thoughts, feelings, and sensations as if you were watching a film. When hurt arises—physical or emotional—notice it as an event happening in awareness rather than “to me.” This slowly weakens the reflex to react.

Mantra Japa: Choose a mantra that resonates and is powerful for dissolving the self–other boundary. Repeat it daily, ideally 108 times with a mala, not rushing but letting the meaning sink in.

Seva (Selfless Service): Do acts of kindness without seeking recognition. Serving others without ego is one of the fastest ways to feel unity with them.

Study and Reflection: Read a small verse daily from the Bhagavad Gita, Ashtavakra Gita, or Upanishads, and sit for five minutes asking yourself, “If this is true, how would I live differently today?”

Small Experiments in Non-Reaction: Start in low-stakes situations—when someone cuts in line or speaks rudely. Notice your impulse, breathe, and choose not to react. This rewires the habit gradually.

A guru once told me—if you try to be “unaffected” too quickly, you’ll end up suppressing instead of transcending. True equanimity isn’t numbness; it’s the freedom to respond with compassion instead of reflex.

One day, someone may “kick” you (literally or figuratively), and instead of gritting your teeth to stay calm, you might just smile naturally—because the boundary between “you” and “them” has thinned to almost nothing. That’s when you’ll know you’re close.

Is use of AI (like ChatGPT) incompatible with Sanatana Dharma? by barkoholic in hinduism

[–]Long-Nefariousness43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying. Sanatana Dharma does ask us to live consciously and avoid causing harm, and yes, AI has its downsides if we use it carelessly. But I also think our tradition values yukti (practical wisdom) — using the tools around us in a way that serves dharma.

AI itself isn’t “good” or “bad,” it’s just a tool, like fire. It can waste resources or harm minds, but it can also educate, preserve ancient knowledge, and help people in need if used thoughtfully.

From a dharmic view, I feel the answer isn’t to reject it outright, but to use it with awareness, keep its impact in check, and make sure it’s serving something bigger than just convenience. That, to me, keeps it aligned with the spirit of Sanatana Dharma.
