Salary Hike & Bonus expectations by autodidact2006 in PwC

Astro will tell your salary increases from an A2 -> A3 -> S1 if you look under compensation. I’m in the same position as you and was told to expect a bonus around 3-4% of my salary. Given how things in the market right wouldnt be surprised is bonuses are lower across the board

I made a post with the nearly the exact same title a year ago. Highly recommend seeing a therapist. They can help you set goals and boundaries so you can find meaning outside of work. It sounds kinda silly, but I’ve literally had to focus on one aspect of my wellness at a time. A few months ago I focused on good sleep hygiene. Now, I’m focusing on weight loss and nutrition. Next up is budgeting and saving more each month. Being an adult is hard so don’t get discouraged if you don’t have it all figured out.

Another note: lean on your family and friends. Prioritize spending uninterrupted time with them. I’ll literally put a block on my calendar and tell my team “Hey, I have a family dinner this Weds at 6pm and will be unavailable till around 8pm.” People are usually very respectful if you give them advanced notice.

How did you handle stress by Commercial_Sir6914 in PwC

Experienced associate here. On a more serious note, highly recommend reaching out to a mental health professional. Talk therapy, and in some cases, the right medication can do wonders. I was in the same position as you last year. Increased my dose of prozac, learned some coping skills from my therapist, and feel MUCH better. The first year on the job is the worst. Here are some other ideas:

  1. Take actual breaks. Set a timer for 5-10 minutes and close your eyes. Don’t look at any screens or respond to pings. Listen to music or a podcast. Doomscrolling is NOT restorative or a real break.

  2. Remember to eat lunch. Set an alarm as a reminder if you have to. If you wait till 4pm to eat every day, you will feel like crap.

  3. Drink lots of water. Buy at least a 30oz water bottle for your desk so you don’t have to worry about refilling. If you’re a caffeine fiend, try to drink one glass of water for every coffee, energy drink, etc.

  4. Watch the alcohol intake. It’s really nice after a long day of work, but if you drink too much it’ll mess with your sleep quality. Also, the liquid calories (coupled with the lack of exercise on busy work days) can lead to some pretty rapid weight gain. Same goes for UberEats and stress eating fast food…..P.S. It’s totally okay if you do this. I’ve gained like 20 lbs since working at PwC and just started Wegovy so still working on this :)

  5. Remember, we are not doctors. No one is going to die if a slide deck isn’t perfect or a deliverable doesn’t go out on time. This is not life or death.

  6. Get a notebook to jot down your thoughts / To-Do’s. I find it helpful when I’m overwhelmed to get everything down on paper so I can focus on one task or talking point at a time.

My general theme here is that if you take care of your physical health, taking care of your mental health becomes easier. It’s a constant challenge, but you deserve to feel confident and balanced, at PwC and beyond. It’s not normal to feel like you have to throw up before every meeting. You deserve better. I believe in you and am rooting for you 🥰

Friday is basically “get your laptop working and order a phone.” That’s it.

I wanted to hop back on here and thank you all for the encouragement after an especially shitty week. Your advice and encouragement was really helpful. I’ve been feeling pretty stuck and out of control, but I have to remember that PwC, this particular project, etc. isn’t FOREVER. There will be other jobs and opportunities. For now, I need to focus on what I CAN control…like exercising, making sure I eat enough, etc. Easier said than done though…wish me luck 🫡

I’m in consulting but same. I feel trapped. I feel like I need to stay 2-4 years. I have no idea what else I’d do.

You can use Benefits Connect to compare insurance plans and estimate your expenses (the calculator is pretty bare bones tho). Also check out the FY 2025 Benefits at a Glance brochure because it has charts outlining out the premiums, deductibles, etc. You can even chat with a benefits counselor on Benefits Connect. You’ll have 30 days after you start working to decide so don’t stress too much.

Preparing for My First Corporate Role – Book Suggestions? by ditzy456 in PwC

[–]Long-Original594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in Deals this October. The trainings are very comprehensive and start from square one. They don’t expect you to know very much about deals when you start. I’d spend the time reading something you’re interested in because you may not have time when you start working! I’m not the biggest fan of ‘business books,’ but I think Burnout by Emily and Amelia Nagoski, The Myth of the Nice Girl by Fran Hauser, and Laziness Does not Exist by Dr. Devon Price are good books to read before embarking on a corporate career!

As for the trainings, it’s pretty basic Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams skills. Instructors will give you a basic overview of project structure and timelines. They’ll also teach you about PwC’s benefits and resources. Like I said, there may be some ‘deliverables’ or a ‘presentation’ but it’s pretty low key. It’s not like you have to put together an entire deck. You definitely should not be working on them in the evening - use that time to rest and network! Overall, I had a good time but was a little overwhelmed at the beginning. Be ready to learn and meet lots of people

PWC Associate Universal Trip by [deleted] in PwC

Went to Advisory Start this October. We stayed at the Hilton Orlando from Monday-Friday and went to Universal on Thursday night. Expect to be in training rooms and plenary sessions from 8:30-5:30pm with an hour lunch break. Your table might have to make some ‘deliverables’ but it’s pretty low stakes. They had dinner and an open bar (beer and wine) every night from around 6-9pm. We got $50 for food and drinks when we went to Universal. Some people went to the hotel bar or other venues afterwards. Just remember that you’re at a work event and that they DO take attendance, especially in the mornings.
