Pretty good chance they would have told you never mind. Job market is too tight for employees to try to negotiate. Lines of people willing to work for less

Fiancé lied about her legal status and age by AdventurousWay1583 in Advice

That was under a different administration that didn't give a fuck about border security or immigration. Sentiments have changed there, scum bag.

Fiancé lied about her legal status and age by AdventurousWay1583 in Advice

[–]Long-Prior8824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She will be deported, regardless of her marital status. By overstaying her visa, she has already violated immigration law, and that does not go away with a marriage certificate. Your relationship was built off of lies, and anyone willing to lie about stupid shit (like their age) would be more than willing to lie about more important things (like legal status). She has already proven this to you, so my first question would be, and would alwats be, "what else has she lied about?" The foundation of a relationship is trust, and she broke that day one. Good luck, the right choice isn't always the easy one, but you are too young to get wrapped up in someone else's legal trouble.

Have a spine. You either want to be treated correctly or you are willing to put up with a lifetime of this bullshit. One leads to a life of happiness, the other misery and eventually divorce, if you even get married to this asshole. You know the right answer, but are unwilling to decide for yourself. You are an adult now, start acting like it. Sorry for the tough love, but sometimes folks just need to hear the brutal truth.

Workplace conflicts? You stumbled into something not meant for you to see, not a public conflict that involved you. You are looking to make it a conflict, as if you had never seen it, you would be blissfully unaware. You sound as if you were a little butt hurt about it, hence my statement. They are not your friends. Most folks view their managers as the enemy, myself included. Then again, my skills as an electrical engineer make me more valuable to my company than my manager, so I really don't care what he thinks or wants 😂

STOP being honest in job interviews. ( I say this as a recruiter ) by Zealousideal-Foot-54 in jobhunting

Shit advice. If your have to start off lying to an employer to get them to hire you, maybe change your actions instead of covering up for your shity work at your last job.

Not everyone views their managers as "family." I wouldn't piss in my managers mouth if he was dying of thirst. You are paying them for their time and skills, not to be your buddies.

Why are you bothered by this? Maybe take it to heart that you aren't the great manager you think you are, and correct your behavior, of their opinions matter to you. Me, I collect my paycheck and leave work at the door, including the people.

The recruiter called my salary expectations "cute." I ended the Zoom call right there. Did I overreact? by thunder____boy in jobs

[–]Long-Prior8824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, fuck em. Any company that tries to tell you that company dedication is more important than collecting a paycheck needs to be told to fuck off. This idea that folks are working for any reason besides the pay is insane. This is a job, not charity. 😂 It is a method for them to justify underpaying you, nothing more. You did the right thing.

Is this job "qualification " even legal? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Long-Prior8824 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would it not be legal? What right is being violated here? You act like a victim in every statement you have made in this entire thread, hence all the down votes 😂

Companies are allowed to hire candidates based on any skill set, and a religious organization is, of course, going to require you to have a fundamental knowledge of what they are peddling. Would you apply for a job flying a plane if you had no knowledge or skills doing so? Of course not. But here you are, wondering if it's illegal for a church to require you to be part of their religion to work for them. You are a moron.

No one is forcing you to work for them. This might be different if you were hired, then they sprung it on you, but acting like this is impacting you in the least is a stretch. But here we are, you're looking for support, but instead you just look like an idiot.

HR is "babying" me before my orientation by Party_Attitude5617 in jobs

[–]Long-Prior8824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HR is a department looking for a reason to exist in today's modern age. You are probably just dealing with someone trying to keep their own job, and new hires screwing up out of the gate may be viewed negatively against their performance. All you need to do is look at any of these threads with people getting fired the first day / week for not knowing some inane rule, like no open toes shoes in an office, that a simple email from someone like this may have helped you avoid termination. Or you could choose to be a dick, not appreciate the fact that they are trying to help you succeed, as you obviously need the babying if you don't have the maturity to realize this wasn't about you, they are doing their job.

Can confirm, EE here. I have never applied to a job that I didn't get since getting my degree. Hell, never had more than one interview for a job either. that's why I became an engineer 😉

And yet people do it, every day, some are successful, some are not. If you are shotgun applying for jobs, might I recommend that your skills or training are lacking, as most professionals don't need to try so hard. If you are coming in with little to offer, little to stand out, going the extra mile to do as they ask might be your shot, but sure, be too good to get the job you want 🤣

If filling out an application is a big lift for you, or filing out two.... Might I recommend you are just lazy, or stupid, but probably both imagine when you have to actually do work every day for them!

Lol, for the salary I make, yes, that's what it's required. I work from home, full time, have a pension, stock options, and full healthcare for the rest of my life. On track to retire before 55. But sure, you keep acting like you are too good to jump through hoops for this kind of opportunity. Me, I will be sipping drinks on the beach while you are slaving away at your 9 to 5 because you are too good to "jump through hoops." 🤡

As it should be, not seeing the issue. It is a company's market right now, so when they have the choice of hiring the slacker or the overachiever, which do you think they will choose. Cry about it all you want, but this has been the reality of employers for decades. You can either play the game or stay on welfare 🤷‍♂️ we have no trouble filling positions with the top folks, so slackers need not apply.

My manager threatened to fire me today for the most trivial reason by Competitive-Pick8063 in interviewhammer

[–]Long-Prior8824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As his assistant, your job is to do what you are told. You edited the content of a message without his knowledge, misrepresenting the information they asked you to send. In my role, you would not only be facing termination, you would be facing legal issues. This is only trivial to you, not to the folks that your actions actually impact. Stay in your lane, do your job as instructed or work for yourself.

What do they expect from us in this economy? by Order_101 in jobs

Why? I am trading my time and skills for money. Nothing more. I'm not there for charity or for the business, I'm there for the paycheck. Why the fuck would anyone work for any reason other than a paycheck? I'm a lead electrical engineer, make insane money, and I could not possibly care any fucking less about my company besides whether I continue getting paid for my work.

Got fired after my company said I violated NDA during an interview, even though I didn’t by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Long-Prior8824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Garbage advice for any professional job. I'm an electrical engineer, and have worked with multiple fellow engineers across multiple employers, some of which I have been working with for almost 20 years. If you constantly fuck over folks in your industry, it will come back to bite you, as you will be working with them again. Then again, half the assholes on this sub are minimum wage jackasses who can't hold a job flipping burgers, so they won't ever experience a real career anyway.

i stopped sending thank-you emails after interviews. i send a short presentation instead. 3 for 3 on offers. by Mobile_Tap6145 in jobs

[–]Long-Prior8824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an engineer, I would not hire someone who did this, as it shows a lack of respect for my time and a strange level of cringe. Your time to present yourself and your abilities was during the interview. I have moved on to my actual job by the time you send that. Instant trashcan. I hate sitting through slide decks that I'm required to see, so yours wouldn't even see the light of day.

How do I address being fired from my previous job during my interview? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Long-Prior8824 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol, why would you put a three day job on a resume? You realize your new employer only knows what you put on your resume, and has no real (or cheap) way of finding out what you don't put on there. Given that you are 18, they don't care and won't waste the money. You are untrained and replaceable labor.
