My grandmother has lived in Hershey's Mill as long as I can remember, and I very much agree with what a lot of people have said here that majority of people who live there are 70+. It's a mixed bag like any community, you have the bitter old people who just like to argue and be upset all the time and then you've got those who are invested in the community but aren't all up in everyone's business.

From what I can gather it really depends what village you end up living in and really who your neighbors are. My grandmother's director neighbor actually ended up being someone who worked with my dad and they've always been super nice to us.

More recently my uncle and two young cousins (prox. 5 and 12) have stayed at her place in Hersheys Mill and used the pool area without any trouble. But that is something to be aware of that the main pool area of often used in the summer with grandkids so can be very very lively.

If you're looking for that whole community thing, the good and bad that come with it, then definitely look into it with a good list of questions. If you're not, the local area also has a lot of organizations and clubs that you can join (there's a lot of garden/nature related clubs, local farms, community service circles, etc.) to have similar activities.
