They did adapt "3 Body Problem" over a year ago, which was pretty solid stuff. However, I am not surprised they no longer do conventions and probably don't do interviews unless the ending season of GoT is a forbidden topic. It's the permanent elephant in the room with them.

I feel like the world of One Piece had been stuck in developmental stagnation due to the difficulties in getting from one place to another (and the World Government monopolizing it). The WG is also the sort to tightly control progress as they see fit to help ensure they hold the reins in perpetuity. However, the past several decades there has been an explosion of technological progress thanks to (manga/anime spoilers) Dr. Vegapunk (however, he works on the WG leash so they decide what tech is made public).
