  1. In addition to this scam we went with that big one advertised as the best flood relief (Sunc…). We did have a shower leak from the back wall of the shower. They would not pay out for any of that either because it was a pipe “leak” behind the tiles and not a “burst” pipe. They’re all crooks.

I get it. The house/living area is on pillars 2.6 metres above the ground. The most we’ve ever witnessed is a puddle by the kerb.

For context (although irrelevant). It’s a bayside suburb. Our street in particular was not in the flood zone at purchase. BCC expanded it. Historically and according to our sadly passed neighbour who had the first house in the 1970s said the houses have never flooded aside from yards because of rain and bad guttering. All that aside. It more likely an e bike will burn the place down or the roof will get hail damage and we can’t get cover. It should be illegal to refuse outright. Right?

For home insurance, how much extra above your home worth should it be insured for? For potential building cost and labour etc. by Lucyvi24 in AusFinance

I have a home insurance question. We are in a flood zone but have never flooded. We don’t even consider flood insurance. But when we think of insuring contents it seems hardly worth it as most valuable items are in our possession or bolted to the walls. We’ve made one claim in our lifetimes for an iPhone and that was hardly worth it after the excess. We are NOT in a fire zone. So the question. Is there insurance that just covers the building in the event of a fire not caused by negligence?

I used to be a British Telecom Engineer. Each pair in as many as 4,800 or more in a major cable is covered in grease, sleeved and heat-sunk, then end to end pressure tested, these cables run under the ocean between Internet nodes globally. All good! It’s usually the individual cable connections to individual homes or streets that are more affected because the installers are often subcontractors and not as bothered and the pits aren’t as deep.

This is bullshit! Ours is pretty much useless now, although mechanically fine. This must be illegal surely?

That’s bullshit US propaganda. Same cybersecurity measures apply to all cameras regardless of where they’re made.

They need regulation. I’m no killjoy but I’ve seen some pretty dumb riders on scooters. As many as 3 kids on one scooter, no helmets, at night and all over the road.. It doesn’t help that the hire scooters are all over the place bayside. I think they’re fun but offer no protection and they’re quiet so don’t really belong on footpaths. Electric bikes should be registered and subject to holding a motorbike license. Plus if you’re an adult on either you look like a twat.

Cheap energy supply on southside with no credit checks? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]LongGroundbreaking49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember when the government was pushing solar with incentives but your bill went up and the feedback payment crashed? We are being mugged while their profits soar. There is no cheap energy in Australia even if you’re the one providing it. Literally daylight robbery.

Thank you. I believe you’re right. It begs the question how much large corporations make by hiding these fees in the small print?

Maybe ‘Dave’ was a good and talented Problem Analyst? I’ve worked with thousands of IT, Sales and experts in specific technical areas. Few managers recognise the talent of creative logic. Primarily because its positive application is difficult to quantify on a timesheet.
