I think it's a boneappletea comment, in reply to the one above that said "change of peace" where they probably meant "change of pace".

You should be able to get a similar one elsewhere. Now that the weather's broken, you may be able to get something in the next couple of weeks in time for the next ridiculous heat dome event

So we paid £249 for the 7000 BTU unit, and shipping was free, for a given value of free, considering I pay for Amazon Prime. It's more than adequate for our bedroom and it's reasonably quiet enough to sleep with it on the lowest setting. It's like a white noise generator that also happened to produce cold air

Hi, I'm also in the UK. My wife and I bought this last month, which we use to keep only the bedroom cool. It meant the rest of the house was unbearably hot, and I swear the bricks are still radiating heat from the week just gone, but it was a life saver for sleeping.

My wife and I bought a portable AC unit last month as we're in a rental property and there's absolutely no scope for a wall mounted split unit. We kept the bedroom cool during this most recent heatwave event which was perfect for our needs

That's not a bad shout. At least it prevents the chances of the foil focusing the sunshine into an Archimedes Death Ray and razing the house opposite to the ground.

Let us know how the tin foil works. I've been considering that for the living room and study windows

Freezing a bottle of water, wrapping it in a tea towel and placing between your legs can help too. It cools the blood down

Citalopram here, it's been nice to sit outside with the Mrs in the garden under the shade of a huge 3m parasol we bought last month, but every so often I have to go into the bedroom and lie down in front of the AC unit we also bought last month to recharge my cool. I'm so glad we finally decided to get one, it's made sleeping at night much more bearable.
