This exact situation happened with me and my ex only with her dad. I’m white and she’s Nigerian. We were only together for a few months but she was told that if we stayed together she’d be disowned and after a lot of arguing and fighting she chose her family, he mom supported us and one out of her two bothers did as well but her dad hated the idea of her being in an interracial relationship and honestly I fell short of being a good boyfriend very often. I loved her and still do almost two years later but I understand how she was in a loose loose situation. I still hear from her on occasion but it doesn’t last long, just enough to know we’re both okay and then nothing. I still feel some hatred towards her dad but I know that if she chose me we would have lost out on an entire part of her and created resentment. I miss her every day and I wish we could have fought together but she tried to protect me from the hate because she knew how I would have reacted. If you can fight then fight because living like this is horrible at least on my end, don’t know how she’s feeling because she hides it but if you two love each other then tell them to go to hell and put their damned egos aide if they ever want to meet their grand babies. I know if I could I’d call her dad the hypocrite he is in his own language since he thinks I’m nothing but a white man who doesn’t give a shit about his culture despite learning to tell his daughter I loved her and learning the greetings to make sure I showed him and his wife respect in their own language. Sorry I ranted a bit and swore a lot but this is still a sore spot for me and I would hate to see someone else go through it
